bubble on sidewall

Hey guys,
just wondering what is the be route to take. G/f took my car down a pot hole over the weekend and now there's a blister on the front left tire. kinda tight with finances so i don't really want to buy 4 new tires, even tough i can't wait to get rid of these Mich's. would love to get tires with more grip.

anyhow, do any of you have on different set of tires up front and back?
if so, how does it ride?

I've had it before on a previous car, was not noticeable in the warm months, but as soon as winter came, I had four matching tires based on some early winter experiences, nuff said

If it's the stock Michelins, don't bother getting a new one since it's crap. Buy a used tire or go a wrecker and see if he has one for you. Shell out the money on better tires after these OEM runs out.

Also, check e-bay or the classifieds on this forum.

I might be getting new tires soon. So if you still need them in a few weeks. I could sell you whatever you need.

The tire dealers will say get the bubbled tire replaced as the sidewall has either been punctured or has ripped and WILL cause a blowout. They wouldn't even recommend the bubbled tires being driven at highway speeds. Is getting my pro-rated money back somewhat of an admission by Michelin that their tire is defective?

On the same cars (TL) with the same problems (bubble) should somehow trigger a question to the manufacturer that this is not suited for this car. Problem is a company like Michelin wouldn't come out and say that.

I had a bubble on one of my Michelins a while back from a pot hole - bought two new Sumitomo HTR+ tires, and had them mounted on the front axle. Kept the original Michelins on the rear axle and saved the good Michelin from the front in case one of the rear tire fails. My installer said there is no problem with mixing the brands (same size, same speed rating, etc.) as long as you have the same brand on the same axle. In two months, I haven't noticed any problems. In fact, my performance has improved with the Sumitomos. Of course, it doesn't get too cold where I live so I don't know about how it would feel in the cold.

I just had the crappy Michelin tire replaced because of the bubble on the sidewall. I replaced it with the same overpriced garbage this week. Boy did spending $190 on the tire feel bad!

In hindsight I wish I could have replaced it with a used one, but oh well.

Did I mention how bad the stock Michelins are?

Although most people will not reccomend that you use two set of tires on your car (it can cause fuel economy and balance issues and most often than none, unwanted vibration) I would just rotate the back tires to the front and put the two new tires in the back. This will cause the front tires to wear out and when they wear out, rotate the tires and put the new ones in the front.....
