Breaks,pads,rotors,calipers....

Hello All,
My mission was to find a set of rotors for my car that were good quality and worth the money. I found a site that sells slotted and crossdrilled rotors, with and with out powder coating... I will be purchasing these rotors soon for my 99TL... They are manufactured by AIMCO

Front set of rotors for TL 199.95 with powder coating +55.00...
Front set of calipers for TL 199.95 (OEM) with powder coating +45.00

the prices above are an example not exact...if you have a tax id they will not charge you taxes.

Exclamation

Thank you Darkshear,

Listen folks,
www.rotora.com only offers SLOTTED rotors for 192.00 for a 99TL front pair
www.discbrakesrus.com offers CROSS-DRILLED and SLOTTED for only 199.95 for the front pair.
I wanted only CROSS DRILLED rotors however i will settle for what this site has to offer...and for a nominal price they will powder coat your rotors to a color you request...

This just in guys,
http://www.frozenrotors.com/frozenrotors.shtml

This is very interesting, I've heard of this technique... It actually makes the
metal in the rotors harder at the molecular level.
direct quote from the web site:

What does cryogenic treating do for my rotors?
Cryogenic treating will increase the useable life of your rotors by 100% to 300% and typically increase the life of your brake pads by 10% - 50%.

WOW i smell savings.......
Feedback welcome!!!!

Try www.streetbeatcustoms.com for the Rotora rotors. Cost is ~$165 for the front pair with free shipping.

I have had the Rotora slotted rotors installed on my TL-S for about two weeks now with the Axxis Deluxe Plus pads.

They stop smoother than the OEMs but can't really tell if they stop any quicker. I am still breaking them in so I have not done any hard stops.

The frozenrotors thing was my idea. I thought about getting it done, then google found Diversified Cryogenics (the company that heads frozenrotors.com) for me. I'm gonna try them, even though they're more expensive. Placing an order today.

EDIT: From reading my post, it looks like I have something to do with the company that sells cryo treated rotors. I DO NOT...

Update!!!!!

Hello all,
I bought the Frozen Rotors slotted back in June of 04... They work great a lot of hard stops and very frequent stops enought to smell them heat up, and NO WARPPING or glazing of the pads. I strongly recommend these rotors to those of you who are looking for great rotors at a even better price.

right around 330.00 for all 4 w/shipping, probably a bit too much but I technically didn't pay for them-they were my birthday present, so will be the pads once i find a place around where I live that has them or I will also be ordering those from the net.

i really hope that you guys are buying trusted and tested rotors/brake pads. I dont want you guys regretting later. so good luck to all of you.
By the way, power coated only means that they are coated not to rust while in the warehouse, when you will get the rotors, it will involve specific technique like soap and water to wash off the coating, which will yeild to rust color, which is the goal before installing them, or at least as recommended by most rotor manufacturors.

If you are inquiring about the rotors i bought then go to www.frozenrotors.com, they are cheaper than Acura Rotors and guaranteed to last you 300% longer than OEM. Mind you the rotors i got were manufactured by Brembo and then cryogenically treated... This is not the first time i'v heard of this process with metal parts which is why i've jumped on the deal... I paid only $331.50(whole sale) for the front set slotted, pads, and shipping... I do know that Acura wanted $115.00 per rotor for a 99TL.... I feel i got a better product and deal... If you want to get the rotors wholesale then you gots to have a hookup and use their tax id...

What kind of pads did you get. I have the axxis and they kick up alot of dust. That's the last time i buy those pads.

KVR Performance has cross drilled rotors for TLs. I've got over 20K miles on mine with no warping or cracks, etc. This may be in part due to the fact that I'm using EBC greenstuff pads which are supposed to be easy on rotors.

I bought the pads reccommended by Diversified Cryogenics. They are Hawk Pads and the dusting is not bad considering that the rotors are slotted.
