Breaking in the TL-S

OK, since I bought this from the packardland, I have to bring it back to the vikingland.
This will mean 330 miles of non-stop driving on the first day.
What is the recommended method for breaking this car in? I don't think I'll be reading the manual before I make it home so thanks for any advice.

Just no pedal to the metal or hard stops in the first 6-700 miles. Also if you are doing a long drive, no cruise control!!!!!! Dont drive at steady speeds/RPM's, try and vary them

hey um...what would happend if we don`t break it in...and noticable engine differencies?
i think that cars nowa-days don`t need to be broken into..cuz i remember snowblowers, gas generators and various older cars...needed that...and besided it`s an ACURA..hehe

....all cars really should be "broken in". All that means is no sustained high rpm driving and vary your speed. The rings need to "seat" themselves to the cylinder walls. That is best accomplished by varying the engine rpm and not running it really hard for sustained periods. There isnt anything wrong with putting your foot into it for a bit, just wouldnt be taking it to redline, nor doing it too often. BTW - you shouldnt change your oil before the recommendation in the manual. New engines need to wear a bit more quickly, thats part of the ring seating. That is why most good mechanics will not recommend you changing to a synthetic oil until after about 10K miles on a car.

I have had my TLS (Black, Parchment, no-Nav) for two days and put >100 miles on it. I have not taken it to redline, but I have accelerated fairly quickly, especially when using the sport shift. I have tried to vary my take-offs and my stops. I've been in stop-n-go traffic and on the highway. I have pretty much tried to "run the range."
Does anyone else have any suggestions for proper break-in, and am I doing it right??
I have heard that if you baby it in the beginning then it remains a baby. But if you give it the gas from time to time (not necessarily flooring it however) then you will get better long term performance.

Page 164 of the Owner's Manual:
"Break-in Period
Help assure your car's future reliability and performance by paying extra attention to how you drive during the first 600 miles.
During this period:
-Avoid full throttle starts and rapid acceleration.
-Avoid hard braking. New brakes need to be broken-in by moderate use for the first 200 miles.
-Do not change the oil until the recommended time or mileage interval shown in the maintenance schedule."
Well, I have not had time to read through the Owner's manual. I hope I haven't fu!#ed up my brand new car (see previous post), although I don't think I have been too bad with it. Maybe I will slack off a bit, or do you guys think I'm OK??

Grrrrrrreat. Driver, I am glad you think I'm OK.
You would have to ask the question about maintenance since I just came back in after putting the Owner's Manual in the car. But if I remember correctly from just skimming through it, there are two maintenance schedules. One for "normal driving" (whatever that might be) and one for I believe "extreme (or maybe excessive) driving." The latter recommends oil change at 3750 mi. The former recommends oil change at 7500.
My dealer provides 24 mo/24k mi. free maintentance, and said to call for the 3750 oil change appointment.

Just got a new 02 tls last week. Two questions:
1) I got the car with 200 miles on it, which is solely introduced by test drivings. I am a littlw worried that if that will cost any problems, since I am not sure if people test drive it properly and follow the break-in rules(I doubt it).
2) Every time when I back off my lovely new car and shift to D5 and go forward, within 2 seconds, I hear a short low frequency hum sound with very slight vibration. Have you guys had the same experience?
Thank you in advance!
