Breaking News, 1/4 mile: 02 Maxima SE = 15s@95MPH, and 02 Atima 3.5 = 14.9s@95.x MPH

March 2002 Compact Sport Car tested both the V6 02 Maxima and Altima with stick tranny:

Quick numbers:

02 Altima 3.5, 5-speed stick tranny:
=========================
0-60 in 6.7sec
1/4 mile in 14.9s @95.x MPH
Dynoed at: 200 HP @6100 rpm, 215 lbft

02 Maxima 3.5, 6-speed stick tranny:
=========================
0-60 in 6.9sec
1/4 mile in 15.0s @95.x MPH
Dynoed at: 218 HP @6100 rpm, 230 lbft

Woww, talk about the BS numbers at Maxima.org
I understand now why some CL-S never lost to ANY 02 Maxima!!!

Still their Auto versions would be smacked by our great CL-S/TL-S

Those times are very low, in fact for the Max those times are slower than the pre 2k2 max. I know the Altima got a time of 14.** at 100 mph on Motor week, and guys in the Max forum are getting 14.** , 94 and 95 mph in auto 2k2 maxes. These times are awfully bad and donot represent them at all!

C'mon guys!!!!

I've seen almost 7.0 0-60 for the TL-S/CL-S and almost 6.5 for the GS4. We ALL know that those number were achieved by underchievers!

It's easy to assume that a well-engineered engine making 255hp/246lb-ft would with a manual tranny would be in the low 6s on the 0-60 by anyone who was really trying.

It's great the read lazy magazine article writers to make us feel more justified in our purchases (and I'm not talking about just TL-S owners, but generally everyone, including me!), but let's all try to be realistic here....those guys aren't pushing the cars at ALL when they're trying out 0-60 or 1/4 mile. It takes a good launch, brake stand, or whatever to get the best numbers, and the magazine articles that include THOSE numbers are generally the ones shown in favor of a car, and the ones that DON'T are generally the ones shown by owners of that car's competitors...

just go to the track when they do test & tuning. its gonna be the right time because everyone takes 3-4 runs and they all stay about the same #. also, the test & tune calculates your reaction time so it gives u the exact 1/4 mile time..not based on factors such as reaction time..........
