yeah, but their handling would be 10 times better than ours... I drove a BoxsterS two days ago...man...what a car! It tells you it's a Porsche every second you're in it.

anyway, we're in different leagues and therefore, impossible to compare.

ie, we can sit five! so more people to envy us while we're driving

The base Boxster is not that impressive, as far as sports cars go, especially for the money.

Yeah, the TLS will smoke a base Boxster on a straight road, especially an incline ...but in the twisties the TLS will easily be outgunned

I was looking for people with a new TLs to trade strait across for my yellow 2001 S2K with 4K miles on it.. to bad I sold it

The Boxster S is slightly faster then the S2K and will hit that time more consistanly then the S2K on the drago strip. On the track... They are almost identicle. I would say the S2K wins on tight corses and Boxster wins on long courses.

Modded CLS/TLS will beat a Boxster in straight line.

I've run agains 2 Boxster S drivers and with all the mods I've pulled 1-2 car lengths to 70-80. IMO -- Forget about it from there on...

You can't compare. The Boxsters are close to GT cars. The TL-S are only sport-sedans. Unless you have NOS . But I don't recommand it. I am not responsible if anything happens :o

Whatz next: Ferrari F60 vs. a Fire Engine?

We can smoke a Boxster S:

Here's how:
Race 1: Boxster kills TLS
Race 2: Boxster kills TLS
Race3: Boxster cxlutch starts to smoke
Race4: TLS smokes smoking Boxster

Porsches have notoriously weak clutches for drag racing - if you drive them as the magazines do to get the accelration specs they publish, a few good runs can do them in. The mfr. fdoesn't care - the good numbers are worth 100 clutches in a few sales.

Boxster with Tiptronic shouldn't post a threat to TLS IF, and only IF we avoid taking curves.. hehe.. :p Boxster handles like a champ...

Boxster manual would be close match... and depends on driver, Boxster might edge out a tick... not by much...

Boxster S, don't even bother.... they would spit TLS bones back to us....

I agree with AKRY.

Now regarding Road Rage's post, it's probably true. My boss, prior to getting an A6 2.7T, had a 1997 Boxter with a 5 speed. Anyway, he wanted to show off to a modded Maxima that was trying him. So my boss was rowing through the gears like a mad man. He was beating the Max when he went to slam it into 4th gear. After stepping on the gas and realizing he wasn't getting any power to the ground, he put on his turn signal and coasted into a parking lot... I can't remember exactly what he broke, but the fact remains that it broke and the Maxima won the race to the next light...

If you do plan on going against one I agree with several of the previous posts, it better be light to light, in a straight line. I've driven the Boxster S and my TL-S definitely a sport sedan in comparison. I don't want to give the impression that I think the Boxster is a muscle car but it is a great sports car. I have never drag raced in any of the Porsches I have owned but I regularly put them on tracks like Road Atlanta, Roebling Road, and Carolina Motorsports Park. My TL-S would be lucky to read the license plate on any of my other cars after one turn at these tracks.

Hankw:

If you have to ask...

No I am not kidding. I have been around hi-perf cars all my life, and wrenched many as well. Anyone who knows anything about Porsches knows I am not kididng. Do a half-dozen hole shots in a Porsche and see what remains. Do the same on a Voiper or a a Corvette. Big diff. Then there are the bad half-shafts, the notorious air exchanges of past years, etc. etc.

Gawd I love the Boxster...it's not a speed demon though... I power picks up after about 4500 RPM or so....in the twisties, it rides on rails... It's awesome...I just rented one for 4 days while in vegas, and I still love it..I'm waiting to drive an "S"..that should be interesting...

Regardless the speed, the engine sound alone is worth it!!!

Go to Porsche.com to hear their engine sounds. There's a specific engine sound for each model, it's great.

Damn, wish one day I can own a porsche.

TLS beating a Boxter S????? I would have to see it to believe it....
If you like the sound of the Boxter S you would LOVE the sound of the V8 German Hemi with MSDS headers and Spintech Resonators and Supercharged....

There truly is "NO" substitute
