Bought 4 New Tires, is Alignment Necessary?

I bought 4 Yokohama 205 60 16 AVID TRZ tires today to replace my old Pirelli Four Season tires. They balanced the tires, but is it a wise idea to get the tires aligned for like $40 sooner that later. Thanks guys.

David,
I would say that it is essential for you to get an alignment. Especially if you can get a 4-wheel alignment for only $40! That is a good deal for that service. With new tires you want to start off right by having them wear correctly and evenly from the beginning. Once tires start to wear unevenly, nothing you can do will ever keep your car aligned properly, unless you purchase new tires and start over again.
The recommended alignment intervals are every 6K mi., and it is also recommended that you get them rotated and rebalanced every time you get your tires aligned as well, although it isn't always necessary to get them rebalanced. Monitoring the tire pressure is also a good way to keep tires in the optimum condition and wearing evenly.
I hope this helps!

Good Deal on the alignment
When my TL needed tires about a year ago, I shopped around and decided to go with Toyos. They were almost 1/2 the price of the OEM Michelins. I was surprised that the Acura dealer had the lowest price on these tires - $100 cheaper than the tire stores (for the set)! Well the surprise came with the alignment - $120 which I think is outrageous. They have some state of the art machine which users lasers or something (I guess they have to pay for it). But they had me at this point because I hadn't thought to ask about the price of the alignment until I was there getting the service ticket written up. I could have still walked I suppose.

get an alignment for sure. im sure you spent 300-500 bucks for the tires and for them to have premature wear is stupid. plus down the road, if you don't align them, there going to start cupping and wearing down plus your fuel economy is going to go down as well. so is $40 really worth it in the end? (im not antagonizing you or anything)
plus get your tires rotated and balance every oil change. get in the habit of doing that. i know it sounds like overkill but get one of those packaged deals that most auto shops offer and use that your advantage.
i know that when i worked for goodyear, i told all my customers who had tires installed there or purchased there to have their tires rotated and balanced every 3k miles especially when its FREE!!
I would suggest trying to find a retailer like NTB, Sears, Merchants, Costco, etc that installs tires but also give you free lifetime rotation and balance.
Hope that helps.

Another vote for: balance the tires when you rotate to keep the ride at its best
and have an alignment done any time you buy tires- thats cheap insurance
Lasers are for wrecked cars- thats how the check frames
We only get toe adjustments front and rear- usually its the front gets knocked out of whack with potholes and curb shots.
Dont pay top dollar for the smallest amount of work they do all day!
Some cars, and modified TLs, can adjust the camber and possibly caster
They charge them the same price for much more work
NEGOTIATE!!!
winters coming, shops are looking at a slow season ahead and
need referrals to your friends 40- 50 bucks for an alignment is the price to pay
Some get lifetime deals for 150- thats a score if you track day, have coilovers you play with, or the spouse is a lousy dodger of obstacles
