BMW owner view of our TLS's

This guy my gf works with was talking about his car one day and somehow the fact that i had a TLS came up and he was like, "oh those cars are crap". Here he is calling our cars crap and he has a 328i sedan dont know exact year but it is the '96 body style and he has horrible electric problems with his car-can not roll any of his windows up or down and his rear end is starting to go, and he is calling our cars crap. I just dont understand it. Just wanted to vent.

Ahhh, don't mind him. He was probably just venting because of all the built up frustration over getting owned by TLS's every week in the last 3 years. Ouch! Every car has problems but he's just pissed he paid $30,000+ for a problematic car that's also anemic.

OMG what a fucking idiot...ya I raced a 330i recently...keep in mind it was auto though, and I think the guy was a moron. Those things can launch pretty quickly, but approaching the end of 2nd I had him by 2 car lengths...he had no chance of coming back!!!

Our TL's will for sure take any 3 series and the 528i.

I raced a 330i last summer. I was at a stop light, and this young guy (I'm talking 17-18 years old) in a black 330i pulled up next to me. He started rolling back and forth (obviously a stick, unless he's a tool and going N-D-N-D). He looked over at me, with this shit-eatin' grin on his face. He crept forward, about a carlength in front of me. Light turned green, and he took off easy figuring I wasn't gonna race him. I pulled up next to him, looked over and we both gunned it from like 20 mph. I bagged him. He got pissed, and cut me off. What a sore loser. :lol1:

BMW's are awesome cars, but they still have their share of problems and I think they are a bit overpriced due to their reputation.

just look at on of the "top ten" listings this last year.. The G35 came in first (another thread altogether) the BMW 3 seriese came in 2nd, and the 04 TL came in 3rd...

The comment I remembered from that top ten show was

"if the TL was a rear wheel drive car, or an all wheel drive car it would've taken first place easily"

and another quote

"what is BMW thinking putting a car with 180HP in a class with the cars creeping on 300HP? The engine is simply out classed , much too weak to be compared to it's rivals here"

BMW is a driving experience - you would be ignorant not to admit that - but bottom line you can look great in a BMW but if you want one that has some real "get-up-and-go", and speed to match the looks IMO, you are looking at double the price of a TL!! for a car that does have problems like every other car out there..

Oh jeez,
I bought a '00 TL new for myself.
The next year I bought an '01 BMW 330xi for my wife.

When I'm driving the BMW and see a TL-S, I think to myself that I am driving the much better car of the two. I also do the same thing when I'm driving my TL and see a Maxima for example.

It's not about speed (there are much less expensive cars that will dust a TL-S). Simply, my BMW is a much more solid, better designed car than my TL or a TL-S (materials, design, finish, handling, engine, etc). Then again, you get what you pay for.

I have a 2003 TLS and a 1999 BMW 740IL. True, the Beamer is more confortable on long trips and a great highway car. However, I much prefer my Acura for everyday driving. I suppose the BMW would beat the TLS in the long run (a V-8 vs. a 6) but the CHP would get both of us first!

I don't know, my co-worker has a 2003 325i and I dont think that the build quality or the materials used on the car is in anyway shape or form better than my TL-S. The doors don't close any better, in fact they sound cheaper when closing ... the interior of the door feels very cheap, the leather is not soft, its tough, the radio looks super plain ... the wood trim isnt any nicer than the fake wood inside my parchment interior TL-S ...

Maybe I just don't notice it, but the interior of my TL-S while being a step below the '04 TL and TSX is nicer and more comfortable than my co-worker's BMW. Just my opinion..

And for those who say our TL-S's can beat any 3 series, you're forgetting about the M3. The M3 is BMWs true entry level sports car and you've gotta admit that its a hell of a car. If I could afford it, I'd be in an E46 M3 now instead of a TL-S

The M3 and M5 are the only Bimmers worth mentioning. Everything else is overpriced. Although BMW's def have the best handeling , But you get what you pay for.
