BMW HID Projectors in a Legend!! What??:)

I was gonna post this in off topic...But I figured some of you rich TL owners may be willing to gut your headlights to try this project....

Well, after sending my headlights to N.J. to get the BMW X5 projectors installed, they couldn't do it...I finally got them back and then tried 2 places in my town but no takers....So after being without my legend for 2 months I finally sucked it up and got some courage and installed them myself...I am really proud of myself and so happy with them... I now have true HID Fogs(Sylvania Xenarcs) and Lowbeams(OEM BMW X5 HID Projectors)...Possibly the only Legend with HID Fogs and low beams....I prolly have the most brightly lit legend in the world...Ok, now that I've boasted, here are a few pics and a link to my album. Pics 10-13 are of the projectors actually on the car and the previous pics are of installation kinda, and other random pics...

How much did it all cost you?
Will it work with 1st GEN TL?
What is the break down in cost?

looks good ... but did you cut a hole in the glass or did you just take it out ( another way to say it can you see all the plastic from the projector???)

prolly could be done on a first gen but since the headlight is a projector type of lens( you can see the bulb) you would have to set the X5 projector piece wayyyyyyyy back and it would practically be in the engine bay and i dont think that you could cover that with tape

Looks awesome, how much did it cost to do? The HID kits I was looking at were around $600 and I decided I should stick to the ricer HID-ish lights for now. Also where did you get the Sylvania Xenarcs from?

It took me I'd say about 8-10 hours in all. I used a dremel tool. I got the complete BMW X5 HID Headlights from a guy on some BMW forums for $550 shipped from Cali. to Georgia. They came from a wrecked X5 with only 15K miles so still new...That is a rare deal...They would cost $2000 new from the dealer...

Chien, I am sure you can make projectors fit into the 99-01/any TL...I mean, I had to modify my headlight to make them fit or mount them...Its not like they were designed to fit my car or like my headlights had projectors in that location previously...

Wampum, I'd say the total cost is prolly around $535, which was for the headlights, the dremel, and supplies..Yes, it will work with 1st Gen TL's.

962.5TL, I basically enlarged the bulb hole on the low beam reflector sides of my headlights, backed the projector into the hole some, and them mounted it with screws...There was previously a long glass piece that covered the low/high beam sections, so I took it to a glass place and they cut it so I could just put the high beam part back in and retain my high beams...

I'll take some night pics soon...

I got the Sylvania Xenarc Fogs from www.sylvania.com for $500 through a group buy I started...

That's pretty shweet!! I've been considering doing something similar to this a little ways down the road. I've got a '99 Integra with an HID conversion, but with the factory projectors. It looks good and puts out a lot of light, but I don't have the nice wide, even spread of light that an OEM projector made for HID's would give me. I'm a little nervous about attempting something like that myself though, but you may have just inspired me!! Looks great, nice job man!!

Nice job. Looks really good. Its a pain to do but well worth it. I didnt use "Angel Eyes". I got Hella Bi-Xenon projectors off a brand new Mercedes SL-Class. I installed them in my factory fog light which is in the headlight. The glass happened to be the same size as the projector. I got them for $150. Theres a small pic of them in my sig.
