blue side mirror glass

How would i get my side mirrors blue like on BMWs? I love that look soo much. they have some blue tint at autozone but im thinking it will be too dark. how much would a tinting place charge to do this? also would it it mess up the heated mirror feature? thanx

Not sure about TL's but I would think I would be the same. Anyways the 2002 acura CL got blue mirrors. Since the CL and TL are very simular I would think you could find TL mirrors that where blue from the dealer.

My 2000 doesn't seem to be blue. What do you guys think about the attachable turn signals for the side mirrors? I kinda like it, but don't want to be confused with a Mercedes. Do ya'll know what I'm talking about?

Its to reduce glare from headlights at night. You can try smoke black or silver if you don't like the blue.

Bud of mine stuck plastic sticky stuff on his Lexus mirrors to get this look ... then he turned on his mirror heating.. the result was a mess of bubbles and melted plastic .. he had to get new mirrors.

BadazzTL, do the 02 mirrors look the same as the 00? I don't have pics to tell.

If they do, you can just buy the blue tinted mirror glass from the 02s.

I'm not sure if they do. i would imagine, but i could be wrong. also i like the dark blue like hzm has, i dont think the 02s are that dark. plus tinting it myself would be cheaper.
i was just about to go out and buy window tint at autozone, but Tracer king of made me rethink it...
anyone have any ideas how much 02 mirrors cost? just incase the heat from the heated mirror feature messes mine up?
thanks

you can't switch out the mirrors. You have to replace the whole assembly which is like 150 each side and more to paint it if you're like me and have a discont color that no longer offer on 02+. If you're worry about the heated feature, when winter comes tear off the tint. Its not that hard to replace it later. I haven't even used my heated mirrors in FL (wonder if it works) I rather just spent 15 bucks vs 300+.

The mirrors and their housing were among of the many changes made for the 2002 model year. My mirrors are bluish straight from the factory. I suspect, though, that the mirror glass only comes with a new mirror housing (which was changed to reduce wind noise).

If that's cost prohibitive, I agree with you that tinting is cheaper.

You can buy the mirrior itself but it will not fit the 99-01 TL housing. The mirrors are cheap at like 40 bucks a piece.

Yeah I knew you could buy just the mirror. I bought one once to try something. I just wasn't sure if the 00 mirrors were the same as the 02s

i tried it today, its SOOOOO hard to get it perfect. i got like 1000s of bubbles so i just ripped it off and quit. i have a lot of film left so i'll just take it to a tint shop and ask them to do it for me.
maybe i'm doing something wrong, can someone plz tell me the procedure?

Did you try applying it with the mirror still in the housing?

Also, where'd you get the film from??

00 & 02 mirror shapes are definately different. I actually compared those myself before. Also, if you get the 02 side mirror from the dealer, those come painted, but wires going to be different because 02 has memory feature.

Someone mentioned that the mirror housing was redesigned by changing the angle of the housing in reference to the car. And this reduced wind noise. Does anyone know which direction the mirror housing was redirected? I'd love to decrease the wind noise on my 99.
