Blinking Dashboard Lights

My 2000TL has a little over 131k and it runs pretty good with only one major repair (knock on wood) with the catalyst converter, but I am a little concerned about frequent jerking when i begin to accelerate. This happend every so often but now its more frequent than before. Also, when I turn on my headlights, the lights in the dashboard constantly begin to blink?

What do these signs mean and do they relate to any problems with the engine? I bought the car with a little over 100k miles and did not get a tune-up could this be the problem?

Also how much does a tune-up usually run for TL's? Are there any suggestions for where I can get a good tune-up in the Brooklyn, NY area?

they are what holds the engine in the car.

You could probably get new ones for $100-200. Not sure what labor will cost you.

Jerking during acceleration is either motor mounts or transmission most likely. As far as blinking dashboard lights Did you get a carfax history on this car? That's not a good sign.

its the lights in the dashboard, where the speedometer, gas, temperature readings are.

Acura just did a recall on the 2000 TL's in May for the tranny and everything turned out ok...gosh i really hope its not the tranny and wouldn't they have noticed anything when they checked it.

Actually lots of time the transmission doesn't die until after the recall (oil jet kit) is performed.

Pure coincidence.

the dash lights blinking have nothing to do with the tranny. it could be a bad ground, a battery thats dying, or a alternator thats not keeping up.

if your tranny isnt bad dont even worry about it, flushing it out wont stop the lights from blinking. if its jerking it could be acouple things. motor mounts being 1 of them.
there isnt a way for them to test to see if its bad. if your concerned bring it to the dealer. a tech will tell you. the main symptom of a bad tranny as a slipping between the 2-3 shift

oh and price they are expensive, between 4500-5k

the jerking only happens when i accelerate for example if i am at a stop light and i pick up speed to go it will jerk, or if i am driving at a comfortable speed and then want to drive faster it will jerk. i dunno if that's between 2-3 shifts.

i haven't had a tune yet and i have a little over 131k, so i was assuming it could be that too.

ok i feel like i am getting to understand after getting you guys advice and reading a few driving traits on the internet.

it does sound like the engine mounts, i am planning on getting my first tune-up after 131k miles are the engine mounts something that gets done with the tune-up or is that a separate job?

engine mounts are seperate and a common failure part on the tl. (typically the front) the jerking could be many things. could be bad spark plugs which are part of a tune up. (really the only thing on a tuneup now days)
