Bleach on cloths

hey guys,

I was wondering if using a bit of bleach in the washer when washing the dirty terry cloths will do any harm to the paint on my car? I have about a half load of towels, and put about 2 cap fulls of bleach (not too much). Will bleach affect the paint on my car?

thanks

From what I read.....if you clean your towels with bleach.....it leaves chemicals on the towels.......so when you wipe your car with the towels your wiping those chemicals into your paint as well

You do run the rinse cycle don't you? It cannot possibly harm the car in any way whatsoever.

well here's what I initially did. I washed the cloths with purex liquid detergent, and added some fabric softener and bleach to the water. Then I dried all the cloths, and re-washed them all with just liquid detergent, then dried them. My dad told me to leave the towels out in the sun for a day in order for the bleach to evaporate out of the towels. Do you guys think that will fix the cloths????

thanks

That fabric softener will decrease the absorbancy of the material. I stopped using it on my normal towels because it felt like I was drying off with a garbage bag.

No Bleach, No Fabric Softener

Both leave trace chemicals on the cloth (fabric softener especially).

If your worried about how they look after washing, don't be if soap and water cannot get the stain out then it probably will not affect your use of it..if you are worried or they just get too dirty to get clean get new ones.

I was all my detailing towels (cotton and Microfiber) in a dye free, perfume free, no bleach detergent, (like all free and clear or something like that).

then dry them with not dryer sheets or anything like that....

yeah, stay away from that stuff. Just plain wash detergant.

I double rinse if possibe, dry on low heat until slightly damp and air dry. Terrys are in separate load from MFs.

Try switching to microfiber towels. No soap, no Bleach, or softner of any type. Their the best thing since the Californa squeegies.

mf towels>

you can throw them in the wash - with detergent (I use one free of dyes, perfumes..) and dry on medium in the dryer - no dryer sheets and by their lonesome. (if they get in there with regular old cotton clothes they tend to pick up the lint meant fo the lint filter)
