blank cd's
i've tried all sorts of blank cd's in my stock tl headunit. at first, the tdk ones were the ONLY ones that played properly, but now they only play correctly the first couple of tracks, and then after that the unit struggles for up to minutes trying to read each track. i've tried tons of brands...any suggestions? what will work perfectly for sure?

this has been covered before much indeapth there is no real solution, or players just dont like to play cdr's ive had the best luck with the cdr's that are blue bottoms. i use verbatim's and havent had one single problem with them at all. i have a sony burner and use roxio.

I think that it's not the CD that's the problem. I have tried tons of brands and have the same problem. I think the problem is the burner that you burn with. I have to go and get a Plextor or Sony and burn the CDs from computer shows..the no name ones. Burn them at the lowest speed possible.

you can't judge by brand, cdrs company just stick their labels onto premade disc from different sources, thats why in my old HU I couldn't play some pack of Memorex while other packs it does. I had my HU changed out underwarranty and now my new ones plays everything. I heard some people (1/3 people I know) still had trouble after their dealer replaced their HU. but I guess I got a lucky HU.

burning them at lower speed, or different brands of cdrs, or differenet brand of buner, or different burning programs will not help. If anything work, buy cdrs that are under 16x max write speed (very hard to find now).

Try these.............
I was in the same boat, tried TDK, Verbatim, Sony, etc even at lower burn speeds. The only brand that works now is fujifilm disk that you can get at office max. They work perfectly too, no problems. It's like i bought a actual cd from the store. pop it in and it plays! Try this brand!

hey dpakman,
what year is your TL.
here's what u gotta do..
I have a 2000 TL and it does not play cdr's either. Actually i had the same problem with my older kenwood changer in my accord. I called kenwood and they suggested using cdr's made for "DIGITAL AUDIO". I tried them and they work perfectly everytime in the kenwood AND in the TL !!!..
So give those a try. there not much more expensive than regular CDr's (atleast when u buy them on sale)..

I have yet to try Verbatim and Fuji Film..will these work even if they are 32x-48x? And I have tried Memorex designed for Audio only and no luck along with tons of other brands...i'm really upset..

I'M having the same problem, and after all the trial and error I'd say its the combination of CDR and Burner. When my friend burns a cd at like 24x and i play it, every time selecting every single track is fine..... i take another one of his cdr and burn on my burner and then try to play it and does its ****ty job of not finding the track for an hour

You have to find some old CD's I don't know what is on the new ones, but they just don't work. I had a friend with does packages that have 100 CD's he bought it like a year ago, so I trade him for new CD's......I'm glad because does Cd's work.

My two cents. . .
Media brands don't seem to matter to mine ('99). I have an OLD Sony (get this) 1X burner that my TL doesn't like, regardless of media/color/etc.
I have a more recent 4X Que burner, that my TL LOVES!!! In fact, I often take CD-R's that I burned a while back on the Sony and rip & re-burn with the Que with no problem in the TL.
The thing that I notice when I do this is that the same amount of data/audio takes up more real estate on the CD-R itself with the Que than it did on the Sony.
Therefore, IMHO, it's a factor of how wide the channels/gaps between data tracks are on the CD, which should (key word) be a function of the firmware of the burner itself. Some burners will be "better" than others in that respect. I get the distinct impression from my experiences with the TL that it's CD player is pretty finicky when it comes to smaller channels/gaps on the CD-R's, and that I happened upon a "good" burner.

hmm i dont think so, since there is no dash kit available (to my knowledge) as of yet... sure u can make somethin custom but that would co$t a pretty penny
- so aftermarket cd changer is another way to go....
