Question Black ok for dirt road?

Trying to figure out what color to get.......

I have a dirt (some rocks/gravel) road to drive on everyday - about a mile and a half to my driveway. Its very dusty in the summer. There is no way I can wash my car all the time. I want to get Black - am I making a mistake wanting black? Does the black TL look bad dirty? Anyone got a picture of the car dirty?

The best part about a black car is you can leave it dirty, and it kind of blends into the background. (Great when you have to park in an area that you want to keep a low profile in!) Then, when you wash it, it stands out big time. It makes you feel good when you see it clean!

I have owned two black cars, most recent being my '97 Maxima SE. Black cars look awesome when they are clean. For about 34 seconds. Then they start to show everything! I know there are guys on this forum that have Black/Black TL-Ss and they keep them spotless, but that takes a lot of time and effort (just ask 'em!). From my own experience and what I've seen and read, lighter colors tend to show less dirt than the darker colors. Because there are limited colors offered in the TL-S, I would say silver or white would be your best choices if you know you are going to constantly be exposed to a dirty environment. My Aegean Blue Pearl surprisingly shows very little dirt, but I'm on pavement 99.9% of the time. The dark green and black will show most of all. If you've got the time and/or patience to continuously clean the green or black, I will admit they do look awesome. But it is a lot of work.

You will dread driving down that dirt road everyday with a black car; imho. I woud agree that White or WDP would be your best slection for the conditions you have stated.

Agreed. I have a Satin Silver TLS, and it looks pretty clean even with a light coat of mud from the rain. I keep my TLS pretty clean all the time, but I've noticed that you can't really tell that it's dirty until you walk really close up to it.

I would recommend the Black with mud guards and just enjoy your new car, a new car with the color you wanted.

Here's another unpaid opinion...

I own a Black Accord right now, and I have to totally disagree with PianoMan. Mine stays clean a whole 33 seconds after just washing it!

I wash it every week and "dust" it every other day. I love the color but I sure wish the friggin' dust would leave it alone. If you're a stickler for a clean car in the summer then Black will definitely test your patience!

But, if you really love black... I say go for it! If there's a tie between black and a lighter color... then you may want to give the edge to the lighter color.

As for me... I think my TL-S will be Satin Silver! Or maybe Aegean Blue... or maybe WDP... or maybe...

That's my $.02.

I've had 3 black cars and I have to agree with the others, black is a pain in the a$$ to keep clean and never mind the chips in the paint. You've got to be on top of it constantly. Being that you'll be on dirt roads I wouldn't recommend black but if you've got your heart set on it and don't mind it being dirty then I say go for it.
