Black button under dash?

Ive had the car for a year now and Never noticed that theres a little black button under my stearing wheel right above the e-brake pedal(under the dash). I dont know what it is but I pushed it a couple times and now when I lock my doors to set my alarm it doesnt make the beep beep sound anymore it just locks the doors and the lights flash. What is this button? Does it hafto do with the alarm system? I got the car used, so I dont know if this button came With the car form acura or is this somthing the prev owner put in wich is why im asking here.

could you please take a picture of this button for me, cause I think it might solve my year long problem of not getting the beeping sound from my car when I lock it with the remote twice.

OK ill try to take a pic of it 2morrow. I have no clue why Its there. theres also a little red LED light right next to were the dash light dimmer thing is. If i push and hold the button down with the key in the on position without starting the motor it turns on and if i push it agian it shuts off. I have no idea what the differance is tho My alarm wont beep either way.

Correct me If I'm wrong, but does your car have a aftermarket or had a aftermarket alarm?

if you have an aftermarket alarm its mostly just a valet, or disarm button....and if you don't it might be your self destruct button....

that button is in fact the button to activate valet mode on your alarm. the previous owner of my TL had the after-market valet button put in the same place.

what you need to do is turn the key to either the "run"or "on" position (i can't remember which one) and push the button. the alarm will chirp signaling a change in state.

No, there is just a blank black plug. You can't press it.

My old intergra had such a button. It was used to reset the "service required" light.

Then what you have sounds like some kind of custom installed thing, and not standard equipment. Post a picture of it so we know what you are talking about.

OK, so I had to get down and dirty but there it is, the black button and just to the left of it is a symbol of a key. Did not want to screw around since I do get the beep on the second click of lock button on remote. Much more civilized than those dorks who insist on beeping the horn .... loudly, and they get louder after 11pm. Why is that? JC

Hey mods: I arrived at this site thru the back door I guess last September. How do I get to page where I can start new threads on different subject? DUH !!
