Talking Birthday! The car is 1 year old...

Well, it is hard to believe that it has been a year since I first got the car and posted the pictures to this forum. It has been 30,000 miles of fun and $5K or so of mods.

The only bummer has been that the tranny crapped out. That really altered my plan for this car. I had hoped to take it over 200,000 miles, but now I am looking forward to a '04 TL-S or maybe even an alternative. It was very discouraging to hear that there are '03 owners with bad trannys already.

I stopped by the dealer to schedule the 30k checkup, and there were 2 TL-S's in for tranny R&R!!!.

UGH!

Really brings me down, because I REALLY LOVE THIS CAR!!!!!

Happy birthday. The whole tranny situation is a bummer, but it is a warranty issue and it just mattered that you enjoyed your car for the time you have had it.

It's nice to know that I am not the only one who put over 20K miles on my car in a year (20,190 to be exact). Of course my tranny has started to misbehave (red-lining for no apparent reason), so I may be next :o(

Only one year and you already have 30K miles? That's amazing.

TWO TRANNIES?? On your TL-S? What is your VIN number, I'll add you to the list.

Me too

1 year today, 15K miles. No tranny problem, no paint chips, no mods, headlights stolen last May. Plan on trading it next week though. Cannot live with headlights issue and transmission scare anymore.

Damn Jon, it looks like he's going to give me a run for my money!

I hear you though. I too thought I'd keep this car "forever". But I'm very disappointed w/ the tranny and other problems. I may just be paranoid but it seems my tranny is starting to "hiccup" again. The last time I said "maybe I'm just paranoid but..." my tranny went out a few weeks later. I hit 36000 miles last week, almost 10000 miles since my last tranny replacement and right in the "zone" for good trannies gone bad. I hope this time I really am just being paranoid.

I don't know. Maybe I'd be happy if the tranny went out again. 3 new trannies in a year (mine will be a year old 4/24/02) and 40000 miles. About 60 days in the shop over that time. I think I'd be happy to just get rid of the car. I think I'd have a pretty air-tight lemon law case. An S4 has been looking tempting these days.

Congrats!

Mine is 1 yr on 3/30 and I have 10,300 on it.

Those that have read some of my posts know that I'm an old hot rodder and drag racer and my TLS has earned its red line stripes.

And, no tranny problems so far and it still can bark a nice second gear when I want it to. (bark - that's break the tires loose when shift from one gear to the next - for you young'uns.)
