Big Problem with Dealership

Ok as you can tell from the time in my post this is really bugging me and I can't sleep because it's literally fucking with my head and pissing me off just thinking about it. As some know I attempted installing a V-AFC II and it went bad. Well my car hasn't been the same since. The Vtec doesn't engage anymore making my car run stock (with mods). When I floor it and get the tach over 6500 RPMs a rev limiter kicks in cutting it down to 3500 rpms. Meaning that no matter what gear Im in I can't get over 3500. My performance modifications are pretty much useless and if I can't get this fixed they will be sold and my car will be stripped.
Ok so what's really bugging me. After soddering, splicing, and reconnecting wires in my ecu it's a little better, but only drivable, not anywhere near where it should be. I decided to take my car to the dealership a week ago and I got horrible news from them. The ECU SHORTED . They quoted me $1200 bucks for the new pcm and it will defintly fix the problem. What choice did I have. I told them to do it but don't expect a smile when I'm handing you bastards the check. Well, 3 days later I get the call that it's fixed and the new ecu is in. OK... I get there, pay, and take the car for a test drive. 500 feet off the lot I floor it and the fucking rev limiter kicks in. I swear I was about to get out and start breaking windows. I take it back to them immediately and they say they will fix the problem. 5 days later I need the car so I pick it up, and they haven't even looked at it yet. I'm planning on taking it back after the weekend.
Well what's getting to me is that did I need a new ECU??? If it shorted could the car even function correctly at all? Everything runs through the ECU. I think it was the wiring and it needed to be soddered up professionaly and the dealership was just bullshitting me. I need some suggestions and help on what to do thanks.

they are jsut eating ur money for nth

i feel sad for u

1. what u can do is to file a complaint to acura and spot the problem you have with them

2. ask for a full refund for the ECU if you find out you don't need a new one but they said so

3. keep bugging them everyday until they do sth, that's how it works in US/Canada

you should have told them what you did. your not under warranty, so dont hide anything.
you cant use any solder with the ecu wires.
just try and get the money back for the ecu, because it didnt fix the problem
if you told them what you did, theyd probably be able to fix the problem faster and cheaper

you screwed up the car, not them. try getting your money back

What do you mean you cannot use solder on the PCM wires? That's how I hooked up my V-AFC II, and it worked just fine.

After looking at the spliced wires, I'm sure the dealership knew what he tried to do without even asking.

i agree. id complain and get your money back for the ecu, since they made you pay for something that wasnt the problem, or atleast didnt fix the problem like they said it would

fsttyms1 is right. Regardless of what you did, they misdiagnosed the problem and made you pay for a part that was not the cause of the problem. You should get a full refund, including the diagonistics fees, if any.

Then go to a different dealership. Or give the first one another chance. Whichever.

Good luck.

The ECU electronics is very delicate. If you're soldering/splicing the ECU or its wirings without the proper electrostatic protection (such as wearing grounding straps, grounded working surface, grounded soldering iron, etc.), electrostatic discharge will kill the ECU in no time.

man, i feel you!!! i had to replace my PCM too, this where they get you. The PCM and Fuel Controller come together as a kit, thus the ridiiculous price.

But after they replaced everthing, the car was fine again. Go back to them, and make sure they fix it and test drive the car. 1200 bux is not a joke. Good Luck man!

You're incredibly off on that price. I searched ebay for the PCM and they cheapest I found it with the auction ended ( I bidded) was $200. I decided to go with the dealership because of the warranty. The ECU alone was about $750 dollars, but with all the diagnosis charges I got raped. If there were ecu's going for 8-20 bucks I would shit myself.
I'm just about going crazy right now and I'm going to get a refund or file a fucking lawsuit after the meet this weekend.

this is why anyone who gets a vafc should get the frog harness so that no cutting and splicing is needed.

Nope. It's a straightforward plug & play harness.

I highly recommend it. I contacted 3 companies to get the harness, but they were all dragging their asses, so I said fuck it and spliced the wires. It was a pain in the ass.

For anybody planning on doing this in the future -- it's worth the money and the wait; GET THE HARNESS. Trust me.
