Right now it seems PIAA Superwhites (which I have) and Sylvania SilverStars are the closest things to HID-lookalike halogens.

I can't tell the difference with the PIAA ones...it looks like the factory. If you wanna be cheap..go with something from Hiper Industries.

Sorry PIAA Xtreme Whites? at 4150K... what does our Xenon HIDs burn at?
and have anyone seen the ad for Xenon bulbs on bmwxenon.com ? looks like a scam, cuz the pics of the lights all look like stock HIDs.. not Halogen bulbs.. maybe Im wrong.

Definitely PIAA XTREME's. But don't get the ones that PIAA USA brings in. Find the PIAA XTREME's from Japan. The ones from Japan are brighter and have more of a bluish hue.

Unfortunately the Japanese ones aren't cheap...expect to pay $100 for the pair.

depends on how much money you want to spend. if money is tight. either just stay with what you got. or spend anywhere from 50-150. i have the silverstars... i like, other people like.. so im happy. but, if you want to step up. and money is no object...(if this is the case.. you should of bought an M5 or AMG E55) but if you want to go all out ... try the phillips 6000k. those will come with my next paycheck.. look at this post..you will see the difference.

I bought some from Tim and I think they are the ones from Japan. I hope so since nothing is written in English on the whole package.

I just installed some PIAA Xtreme Whites for a friend's Odyssey van. These are really sweet bulbs! I haven't compared them side by side to my HIDs yet, but they look really nicely white with just the slightest hue of blue. It had Japanese characters on the package, but the instructions were in English. Yeah, these bulbs are expensive, but they look good and should last longer than those cheap ricey bulbs you find everywhere else.

My friend had Hiper industries bulbs that looked almost exactly like my HIDs and only cost $30. While the dispersion pattern wasn't as broad, and the light not as intense, it had the HID color matched nearly perfectly. I don't know what their longivity is going to be like though. If you want an inexpensive, nice-looking bulb, this is the one to get, IMHO.

PIAA USA at this time only brings in the H3, H4, 168 Wedge and other assorted accessory light bulbs.

It's safe to assume the 9006 or H7's are from Japan.
