Bel 985

Anyone familiar with the Bel 985...any difference (worth while) from the 980. How would you compare it to the V1/Passport 8500. I know there are countless radar discussions but none dealing with this radar detector. Anyone with experiece in Tri state area.

Not to spark flames, but just do yourself a favor and get a V1.

Bel is very nice, but not as good as the 8500 and V1
V1 is also better than the 8500
but note, when i say better, it's not that much a difference
but this depends, if you like to drive really fast, and not just normal speeding, get a v1, it may have a bit better a chance of saving your rear end, if you drive relatively fast, get a 8500, if you drive fast, get the Bel

whether the difference is worth the extra $$ is all up to you

V1 and Passport 8500 both rank either No1 or No2 in diff mags. The Bel 980-985 rank 3rd in almost all mags. Neither of these radars can prevent your azz from being zap by instant on radar.

The alternative anti radar is the Phantom III which gives out false signals to confuse police radar guns. Cost less, but seems to work everytime.

and remember, as is with all radar detectors, you have to be in a crowd of cars in order for them to work, if you're the only car on the road, none of them can save you

Has anyone used the Phantom III? What are the results? Is it detectable?

Useless. These things don't work with a crap. The only type of radar jammers that work are in the $1000+ price range and are *very* illegal. Now lidar jammers, on the other hand, are quite affordable and legal in most places.

Very true. I remember reading a review in either C&D or Motor Trend where they tested a number of "jammers".

THe consensus was that ehy're a waste of money that should be better directed to a quality radar detector.

BEL?!?! I don't think so man..V1 or nothing..I repeat, V1 or nothing..And anyone want to start flaming, dont waste your time, because I have had the "competition"(8500, K40, and numerous other detectors that were a WASTE of money).
