Battery Life on Acura 3.2 TL

he dealer called me when my car was there for 45,000 mile service and recommended that I get the battery replaced as it only cranks out 360 Amperes when it should show 550 Amperes - is it really required to change it - I just bought the car 3 days ago but it is a 2002 model and I was wondering if this is normal for a battery to do this - show less charge - he said that the alternator is fine.
Please advise.

Ya that is normal...normal battery life is about 2.5-4 years. 3 years out of a battery is pretty good actually.

How old was your battery? Mine is still the original battery from a 2000TL and still cranks fine. Hoping it will get me through this winter before i have to buy another.

Check your local sears, they should have it. They vary from 100-200(ballpark numbers)

This has nothing to do with the life of a battery. Alternator power runs everything while your car is turned on. If you have your car turned to "Acc" and run Navi and/or stereo...that drains your battery. Running you battery down and then recharging via the alternator many many times will be detrimental to its life over the long haul. I just replaced the batter in my 1999 Chevy van conversion in December and you want to talk about "gadgets"! All kinds of lights, TV's and the like in that and the stock Delco battery lasted 6 years.
