Ball joints went bad

Ball joints went bad
I started to experience shaking in the car as I accelerate about two days ago. It all started when I was going around a long corner entering my neighborhood.
I didn't think much of it at first, but when I went to work the next morning it happened again. I took it in and the dealer told me that I have two ball joints going bad. They are on order and will be replaced next week. BTW - they have to replace both the wheel bearings and the ball joints, since they are in the same assembly.
Has this happened to anyone else?

damn thats sounds funny for ball joints to go out that fast. could be a defect more than a lube problem. even wheel bearings.
do u race your car alot, do u so any autocrossing or things like that? if not, either the dealer is BSing you, or its a defect.

It wasn't all four, it was the lower two. I'm actually pretty sure that the lower drivers side went out first and has been out a while, since the car's suspension has felt a little sloppy for some time.
Perhaps the other joint couldn't handle the increased travel? I don't race a lot, and don't do autocross. I really don't treat this car any differently than I've treated any other I've owned. It does, however, get A LOT of stop and go driving during my commute.

Well, it could be a defect. The only other front end suspension component I've ever had go bad was a tie rod end on a '91 Eclipse with about 20k miles on it.
I do hear of people getting their fron wheel bearings replaced a fair amount, and it's interesting to note that the ball joints are in the same assembly as the bearing. They all have to be replaced as a unit.
It sounds like whoever makde that component didn't have the best quality control.
The good news is that I think I'll get a free alignment out of it.
