The sport-shift will not allow you to downshift in the "danger zone". Keeps those 80 year old gray-haired TL owners honest.

HAHAHAHAHAA!!! Hey, on my lunch yesterday there was some old lady that was driving the wrong way down the busiest street in town, at the busiest part of it.... All I saw way in front of me was cars dodging to the sides onto curbs, over the median, etc., then everyone finally stopped (she did too), thankfully there were no collisions, but she finally realized that she was going the wrong way when she arrived at a stopped pack of cars that blocked the road and with the help of a car salesman from the Mercury dealer she got into their lot and off the street. I hope they buy her car and don't sell her a new one! CRAZY!!!!!

Dont think it would be good to down or up shit at any RPM.

But seriously the tranny will not let you shift into a lower gear if you are at too high of an RPM if you are using SS. Using the gear selector and manually moving to D3 or D2 would be another story, though I cant see any reason why you would want to do that.
