Bad ball joint???
About 3 months ago replaced my passenger's side lower ball joint. I looked at it today compared to the driver's side. Here is what I saw:
Driver's side
Passenger's side:
When the pictures were taken, both wheels were jacked up. Since the passenger's side is mushroomed over, does that mean it is defective?

Whoops... misread the description (if anyone saw).
Check the new lower joint for excessive play.
Do you hear a clank or feel an odd knock through the wheel?
Is it an acura part? If not it may not have the same appearance but still be ok.

no. You have to check them for play. Do you get upwards or side to side movement out of them? If you arent sure go to a alignment shop. They can inspect them for you

Alignment and Balance has been done. The problem is that between 50-60 mph, the car shakes only when I accelerate. For example if I'm going 50 using cruise control and hit the accel button, the car will shake a little from that side but quits once it stops accelerating. I replaced the ball joint in early March, and a week later replaced the lower control arm and got an alignment the same day. The passenger bushing is from Autozone. There doesn't seem to be any play when I try to move it by myself.

the first pic appears to have grease from a hole in the boot for ball joint
Is that correct?
if so replace that one and prob should go away
Need a prybar to test the freeplay in the part
Inner cv joint can make a wierd shake on accel too

I did notice the grease, but this all started after the repairs were done to the other side (passenger side). Also, when driving, the shaking is coming from the passenger side.

Like 01tl4tl said. Check for play in the joint with a pry bar. If you have a shaking while accelerating it could be a axle, or also very common is a bad motor mount.

I think I may have discovered the source of the problem and I was way off at first. I've noticed that all of the symptoms disappear when I keep it in fourth gear.
So does this mean that 5th gear is going out?
