Back seat doesn't fold

Hey guys: am I high or does our back seat not fold down? I had to carry a big item in my car a while back and couldn't figure out how to get the seat down.

How do I do it? And yeah I RTFM; maybe not well enough.

Major differences between the 2002 TL vs 2002 Accord V6:

- HID lights
- bigger engine
- sportshift 5-speed transmission
- rear A/C vents
- NO folding rear seat (just a pass-through hole)

I'd like to cram the bean counter who made THAT decision through the pass-through. OK I'm not high; thanks much.

No the back seat does not repeat does not fold down.
ACURA did not do this on the TL I kinda hate it sometimes.
I had a 90 HONDA Accord LX sedan & a 94 Accord EX sedan that had the fold down rear seat. ACURA did not do this on the TL because our back seat has more cushion than on an Accord. It also provides for better seating comfort. I forget but another reason the seat does not fold down has to do with the body structure or something.

Stiffen body per dealer

Could be B.S. but the dealer also told me it's to stiffen the body. Apparently, there is a big metal "X" brace right behind the seat to connect the rear strut towers. You would think some bright engineer would have figured out how to brace the car properly and add the fold down seats. Probably came down to dollars and cents.

I think the dealer is correct on this one. I can't remember but it has somehting to do with the structure of the car. I think it was to make the body stronger. The Accord although built on the same platform does not have some of the same inner workings.

cuz nobody likes accountants :p

seriously though, i think that most changes/features have to go through financial for approval, no matter how useful/cool they are, most of them get shut down because its "not profitable enough."

I would think the seats are too padded to properly fold down, even if they wanted to.

I agree with Songoku, never seen it in a luxury or near luxury car.

the audi S4 has fold down seats, and M5! has it as an option. how's that for examples?

You forgot those wonderful memory seats, and the fact the stereo sounds way better.

Because it seems unlikely that the lawyers would do something like this, so it must have been the accountants!
