aux output on stock cd player radio? (type s a-spec)

Hi team

ive got an 03 type s a-spec, was just wondering if the stock cd player head unit has an aux out on the rear of the deck...... if not, does anyone have a decent model they suggest that doesnt clash too much with the rest of the interior?

thanks

There's no AUX port on the stock radio. You can keep your stock unit and add iPod connectivity, RCA ports with an iPod interface. It's simple to install and not a visible upgrade so nothing will clash.

I added both IPOD + AUX input to our 03 TL (not S) using:
USA SPEC PA11-HON

It is awesome. The earphone aux input works with any source, and when using the IPOD cable it charges the IPOD, plus the radio and IPOD also respond to steering wheel volume +/- & Track changes. I could not be happier with it.

You just need to make sure that the back of your 03 radio has the square female plug for an external CD player. Our radio already has 6 in-dash discs, so I didn't mind filling the available female plug with the PA11-HON.

I have the USA spec PA11HON as well and it's worked great from day 1. Install is simple and I've found u don't need to even remove the headunit if you don't really want to (heard from others) but I took off my center console and took the radio out and ran the wires to the armrest console. Then I just poke the iPod cable out thru the cup holder area and rest my iPhone there for the ride.

I did similar to MilwaukeeDave.... my cables come out inside the tunnel between the cup holders and the center armrest storage bin.

Unfortunately they often block the cup holders too much. If I did it again I might come out the side of the center armrest housing and attach some kind of pouch or bracket on the side to hold the IPOD.

I took the radio out, but if use a mirror and your fingers, you can probably leave the radio in and find a way to plug the wire into the Square female plug receptical near the rear bottom Left (USDM passenger side) of the radio. It's do-able either way. Good luck.

im thinking of buying the blitzsafe product (unless you advise otherwise), I would like to run the cable underneat the panneling, past the cupholders and into the arm rest storage bin, i dont need my ipod to be accessible to me, just in some place safe, i always use cup holders so i dont want those hindered.

I know there are other brands, but I personally would buy USA SPEC again since I know it worked in this application. It's too aggrevating to make a bad choice and be stuck with it.

I had the Blitzsafe Aux input (non-iPod). Worked great for my XM Radio unit & occasional MP3 player. Install was pretty straightforward - just very tight behind the headunit.

Yea USA spec is a safe product lots of satisfied people. There's plenty cable length to do what you plan to do. Same thing I did. The adaptor box sits in my center armrest console and then you can leave it in there or feed the iPod cable out the hole behind the cup holder. I did mine this way because right now I use my iPhone as iPod as well so if I were to get a call I need to be able to at least see who it is. Then once I finally buy a new iPod (old one stolen) I can stick the cable back inside and everything is out of sight. There's only a fee brackets and obstacles to go around to get it up the center. Just be patient and make sure u don't damage or block anything as u feed it in.
PS: the USA spec will allow you to control your iPod/iPhone w steering wheel controls as well. This made it a no brainer for me.

it varies but usually you press the cd button and it will switch to it.

it works this way as even though the deck has an internal 6cd changer, the deck has a port for an additional cd changer.

the deck thinks you are trying to use the external cd changer and the steering wheel button cycles through the tracks.

sometimes older units that allow the track changing stop functioning with new iPod/iPhone models (ie Dension ICE Link) so its a trade off having a standard 3.5 mm headphone jack vs ipod cable as the 3.5 mm will work with any device or phone (ie android) but no track selection.

Griffin makes a product that charges your idevice but has a remote and 3.5 mm out to remotely control it.

Also check with others if your device charges with the adapter, 3.5 mm = no charging.

I was researching these so there's a recap (bit late to the party).

If you need an install manual i have one how to disassemble the interior and run cables:

Does the USA SPEC PA11-HON work with a 2003 TL stereo that has 6-disc indash AND cassette all in one? Like this one - http://www.carsteering.com/data/all_...2-1100-Map.jpg
