Audio setup
Audio setup
Hello,
I posted this in the Audio forum as well, but I thought I could throw it to you guys for your opinions as well.
I will finally be uprading my audio system on my 2003 TLS. I am looking to get your opinions of my setup. I am going with JL XR's component speakers in the front and coaxials in the rear. I want either 2 JL w6v2 10's or 12's, but I dont really know how much space i will have left in the trunk. Any idea? I may just go with one if space turns out to be an issue. To top it off I will be going with JL amps.
The big question is...can I keep my facory HU? I have the 6 disc Bose HU and I have heard that it is quite a pain to keep. I will need a quality installer in Atlanta and if you have any recs I would appreciate it. Your comments are appreciated.

well if you port them, you wont have much space at all - I have 2 JL 12W3V2 subs sealed, and the box doesnt go to the end of the back window so I still have plenty of space and can get to the spare. But if you port them, you will need much more space - nearly twice as much. Mine are sealed and pound damn hard, so I wouldnt think you should port them if you want some good bass and still have trunk space.
yes you can use your stock deck, though I didnt so I cant give you much advice on that. good luck though

If you are wanting to keep your stock radio, and hook your amp/ subs up to it, it isn't hard at all. I've only had my car 1 month and I did that the first weekend I had it. I live in the A-town also up in Chamblee. If you want, you could come over and we could make a day of it.
I'm not sure about the fronts tho.
