I have a 99 Acura TL (No navigation)

First off, I'd like to play CD-Rs that I have made in iTunes in the stock head unit. However, it does not play the CD smoothly; instead it takes 5-20 seconds to start the next track. I am sure this is old news but I was wondering if anyone has found a way around this. It is becoming pretty frustrating.

Second, I have a monster iCarTrip (image below) that plays my iPod Nano through a FM radio station. However it only plays through the left speakers. If I change it to play through the right speakers, I will not hear anything. Has anyone experienced this before? This happened in my old car which I had Pioneer speakers and head unit. Are all iCarTrips that are 80.00 bucks this crappy? Any suggestions about this problem?

And lastly, I tried to use a sony tape adapter to play my ipod. I would insert the tape, it would make some noise and try to run it, then spit it out. I will try to play a normal cassette tomorrow to do a little trial and error. But has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks

I think any iPod adapter that plays over your FM is crappy. Only way to do it properly is to get an IceLink or some other plug in adapter. My 99 stock stereo didn't like CD-Rs much either.

I never experience that. BTW, those FM transmitter sucks, don't even waste your time or money. You do have a couple options, they're all good, depending on what you want. You could change the HU, the bose stock head units from 02-03 TL's are the same as yours, but they play burned cd's and have a in-dash 6 cd changer. Or, as a second option, (I used this before I got my direct wire for ipod) get the Monster brand tape adapter (best buy $20), it's specifically made for the ipod and actually works pretty well. Thirdly, get one of the direct wire ipod adapter from biltsafe, "usa" one (forgot name), dice, etc. Any of those adapters are great and will give cd quality sound, just a matter of preference as far as the types.

^^ I agree, FM Transmitter will give alot of distortion making your music unclear and annoying pretty much. The cassette is a good idea if you want to stay on a budget and then upgrade later on. I had a cassette, ran the wire through the wood pillar ( underneath ), made a small whole where the cup holder is, ran the wire through there, and kept the ipod there. Worked fine with me for about 6 months then I upgraded! Good luck

How much is a stock head unit from a 02-03? ebay is my best bet?

How much for biltsafe direct wire? From what I have seen online they look great, but way overpriced.

Thanks

Also, that monster accessory looks like it is getting horrible reviews but I may try it since I can always return it.

I just tried to play an ordinary cassette tape and it played it fine. So apprently I am having problems like cassette tapes adapters or just the one I have. I will do a little more trial and error.

Yeah, the biltzsafe is really worth the money, its around $100-$130. I'm glad I chose that over the various other adapters available. But, if you're looking for more of a temp. solution, the monster tape adapter IMHO for $20 is the best sound you're going to get for just $20. The stock bose HU, should run a couple hundred used. If bought from acuraoempart.com, it'll be around $600-$800.

Just a follow-up. I purchased a cassette adapter. I was about 17 dollars at Wal-Mart and I am more impressed with it than my 80 dollar Moster adapter. Thanks for the help.

Direct connection and run your controls from your steering wheel for iPod or iPhone. $135.
Can't beat that.
