Post Attention: All OEM exhaust owners

I know that an exhaust is supposed to have smoke coming out of it when its cold. I was told it was just the excess moisture or something like that. In our other cars, the smoke goes away after a couple of minutes but in the TL, its always there. I notice a lot of smoke coming out when im in my car. I see it through my mirrors. Even after long trips. This is normal right?

Every vehicle is different, my Crown Vic (company car) has a V8 with dual exhaust and smokes all the time when cold. My Explorer stops smokin after warm up. It's just condensation vapor, nothing to worry about, unless it's blueish in color or smells, then it's a problem.

Yeah i wouldn't sweat it, it's normal...My fathers E430 smokes of two seconds in the cold, my mom's A6 smokes for a long time before it quits...My TL used to smoke a lot when i had the stock exhaust in too...

Mine does it to I think you notice it more on the duals.I kinda like it smoke or vapor comming from both sides.I look in the side veiw mirror & see the white stuff comming from behind. This is normal unless you have a darker color white or smell something.

It ain't smoke, but instead is VAPOR, as in water vapor. that is, unless you have a problem, which is not too likely with a late-model Acura.

I normally wouldn't advise such a non-scientific test, but perhaps you could lean down and sniff the "smoke" to see what it smells like?

If functioning properly, you shouldn't really smell much of anything...

Thumbs up

First off, look under the hood, take out the oil/ dip stick & look at the oil! Is it REAL dark? How many miles from last oil change? Do you use a PREMIUM oil? Smell oil on the stick. Does it have any BURNT smell 2 it?Feel the oil on the stick. It should feel very SLICKERY between your fingers, not TACKY. DO you use PREMIUM gas? Check the air filter. Need changing? You probably don't have anything wrong, but this will help you test. Good luck!

I don't like the idea of going down and smell it, I too have noticed this on my TL.

Well, I guess its normal. I just wanted to make sure. I looked at another TL and it had it too. I always use premium and just got my oil changed.

Does anyone use synthetic oil? Any differences? ie. smoother, quieter? Thanks

Cool

I use synthetic and it is a bit smoother and also the starts aren't quite as hard in the cold. It can also take cold weather a bit better...
