Post Asymetric windshield wipers

Has anyone noticed that the windshield wipers on the tls are different. I noticed this when I cleaned my car. The passenger side wiper does not rise up, because the hood is in the way. This makes it very difficult to clean underneath the wiper blade. Is there a reason why acura did this? or is this a design flaw.

Whatz the big deal? Just switch on the wipers and cut the keyed power when they are in mid position. Then, easy to clean.

I think I read in the manual someplace that you are supposed to turn the wipers on and then turn the key off when they swing up on the windshield. Only then can you lift up the passenger side.

Don't know if this was done intentionally for some reason or another or if it was caught 'after the fact' and the manual made to just describe how to use this 'feature'.

I think its a pain in the ass, but i think it was done for aero-dynamic reasons. if it was sticking out enough to clear the hood, it would probably get dragged up the windshield when driving fast.

Exclamation

One word of caution, don't open the hood all the way unless the windshield wipers are in their stowed position. Otherwise the hood could contact the driver's windshield wiper arm.

The wipers were hidden under the hood to reduce wind noise.

The wipers have been like this since the body change in '99. The big improvement is in the '02 model with the washers hidden undernealth the hood instead of nozzles on top. Great change for cleaning and waxing the hood.

I noticed this too - just a minor annoyance.

That's cool! But the design also gives the driver's side a larger sweep and not the distraction of a 2nd blade in your view.
