Arg! Someone hit my rear bumper...
I was at a dead stop at a light (wife and kid in the car) and an older woman (late 50's) taps my rear bumper.
I now have two indentations from the screws on her front plate as well as the outline of the plate.
I want to have this fixed. But, given that my car is a 2000 and the paint doesn't have its original luster, will a repainted bumper really match again (BLACK PEARL)??
Do they usually fill the dimples and repaint the bumper or order a new one? Any idea how much a job like this costs? (yes, I know her insurance will pay but I'm curious and I can't get a quote till monday).
I wish people would look when they are driving....

I had the car for 2wks an old lady did the same to me... as i was walking back to the car I see her whack it and take off. I just left it since it would cost lots of $$ to fix but the dent was just near my license plate.

look up kman156 , and you'll see my post
about the bumper and a pic of the damage last week! just got it back yesterday! saved the bumper , needed a new skin, and repainted the wing west rear lip. body shop matched the taffeta white perfect! it was getting painted anyway, i had the tsb on the paint fade bulletin. my bumper was like 4 shades lighter than the car. matching the paint on abs plastic to match the metal is not easy! i'll post pic tomorrow , needs zaino!!!

replacing front bumper on my 93 white maxima was about 2K. When I got it back, the bumper was a lot brighter then the rest of the car, but after a summer it's hard to tell any difference. you'll probably have the same reaction at first, but it'll be okay after a while...a good paint shop can even match dull paint to a certain extent.
not sure if they can do pdr on a bumper, but it may be possible so you can avoid the repaint
Off topic, but have you tried zaino, klasse, or nu finish to see if it can restore some shine you your car

I got hit on the back bumper couple of weeks ago, nothing serious, but driver side corner has small tripes of paint cheapings. Since other guy's insurance in paying for it I got an estimate for a whole new bumper + paint job + clear coating for just under $600. If you are thinking about replacing the bumper, around $550 should do it. If you are keeping the bumper, meaning there is no crack, you can save about $150...as told by the the body shop. They would sand the bumper down and repaint it with the clear coat. Since my car is dark gray and there is black color body under the paint, I'm thinking about just using the money to put some stuff on my car.
If you have dents, or indentation, they should be able to flat that out, but I would just replace whole bumper....since the old lady's insurance is paying for it, I would just get it replaced. They should be able to match the paint , but I doubt it will be a perfect match. Good luck.
