APC LED bulbs in place of halogens

I installed two APC LED clusters in place of the rear turn signal bulbs on an '02 TL-S. Very nice look with the instant on/instant off appearance. Only thing is .. they flash two or three times faster than the halogens did... even the front ones .. .you can hear the relay clicking incredibly fast. What's weird is that when you turn the hazard lights on, they flash normal speed. Weird.

I have LED's in my corner but I had this problem happen w/ the halogen They blinked real fast but normal when hazards are on mine was doing it because I didn't plug them in right they weren't making a 100% electrical contact I turned them until the contacts were properly aligned and it fixed the problem

Cool! I've been thinking of doing that for a little while now. The fast blinking could be caused by the lowered current draw of the LED bulbs. A shunt resistor may fix the problem.

Where did you get the LEDs and how much did you pay? And what model did you get?

A lot of times the LED replacement bulbs have individual LEDs packed facing one direction only, so it creates a "hot spot" on your lens instead of spreading the light all around the reflector. Do you have this problem?

You read my mind, Daverman... hehe... and I have the exact same concerns(heat problem and current) as you.... gonna see how they do with LED... if still no go... I will go with RED bulbs...

Mine are made by APC (American Products Company) and are:

504076B - Brake Light Bulbs (replaces bulb # 7443)
504057B - Rear Turn Signal -Amber (replaces # 1156)

I'll try what you mention about the contact but if they are getting power it shouldn't matter but I'll double check this. It may be that the resistor in the LED pack doesn't hold the power back enough. ???

daverman, these particular models are 11 LEDs, one large in the center surrounded by 10 smaller. It lights up my entire reflector.

Sorry for being such a snoop, but this is one of those things that I'm curious about. I'd like to replace my high-mounted brake lights with fast LED lights to see how they work.

Do you mean the gauge cluster? If you are, Nate had tried and believe giving up on those as the led distributor didn't deliver. Cost of those led are expensive too. They are wide angle led and lots of labor needed to put them in with resistor and stuffs. Im still on it probably will experiment it when the weather warmer.
