Anyway to tell a replaced tranny?

I bought my 2000 used, and the other night while paging through the warranty booklet a business card for a tow truck company fell out. Last owner must have had it in there.

The car runs fantastic and I am not worried, I would just be interested to know if the car is on it's second transmission or not.

Is there a way to tell by transmission number or something?

you might be able to call Acura customer care and give them the VIN of the car. They might be able to pull up all the history about this car.

that's just my assumption, I may be incorrect.

When I took my car to the dealer, he was able to pull up all warranty work done to my car throughout it's life. They should be able to do the same for you and answer your question about your tranny.

Acura customer service told me about my '02 TL before I purchased it.

Also I had a mechanic look at it for the pre-buy inspection. You can tell if its new or not. The casing looks newer, the bolt heads have tool marks from wrenches and sockets. A trained eye can tell you, but the Acura service dealer will let you know if it was done by them and under warranty!

reg. with owner link and enter your car VIN there.
http://www.acura.com/owning/owning_index.asp

It will tell you if the tran been replaced or if it's still open (not replaced)
