Anyone w/ exhaust resonator removed?
I have noticed 2 exhaust resonator. I am wondering anyone has one or both resonator removed. If so how does it sound? too loud?

i have both removed. if you are running a stock exhaust id say pull them both. if you are running the comptech id say remove only the small one, unless you have teh quiet tip inserts, then pull them both

not ricy at all. real deap sound. as for what did it cost. the first time i did it it cost me like 25 bucks at a exhaust shop to cut out and weld in a piece where the 2 resonators went. as for sound you do get the low resonance in the car, if you were on a long trip it would get anoying but for normal here to there driving it isnt to bad. thats why i recomended getting a set of quiet tip inserts. put them in when you dont want the hear it as loud (takes about 1 min to install)
oh and also with the comptechs you can make (as i call them ) Loud tip inserts which make it louder and even better sounding!

LIke 'giovanni' said, I wonder what it will sound like w/ just one removed.
I could just do it one at a time to see the difference but I would also like to save time and money. so i rather do it all at once after my decision is made.

[QUOTE=Got_3.2?]when u go to da muffler place tell them u want to remove them both. when they pull one resonator ask them to lower the lift and start up the car n see if u like it. if u want it louder tell them to continue with the 2nd resonator if its good tell them its fine.
well, then the sound is coming strait from the cat not from the muffler. they have to weld it to get the true one resonator sound.

with the factory exhaust you will barley notic a difference in sound inside the car. you will pass inspections and the muflers will last as long as they would with them in

man I've been DYING to know about this...I've got an '01 CLS with CT Headers & Icebox and I LOVE the sound it gives to the engine...but I want that exhaust note to be there, you know? However I don't want to get exhaust cause the loud sound just aint' my thing anymore. Just an exhaust note like the g35/350z. I've been thinking about taking out the resonators on the stock exhaust to see if it compliments the I/H at all, but I don't know if that would be a bad idea or not? Perhaps I'll go do that tmrw

Ok guys...I went and got the resonator removed today (by the way, on my car, a CL-S, there's only 1 resonator). Anyhow, it sounds pretty good...UNTIL I hit 2500-3000rpms! It sounds like a god damn fart can. I'm actually emabarrassed to drive it if it gets to that part of the rpms. So I have been driving extremely slow all day today. I don't know, it's fucking weird. When I put it in Park and revved it to 3k, it doesn't make the sound. Only when I'm driving it does. And it sounds AWFUL! I think I'm gonna go back tomorrow and put them back on.

Well, then my question is....CL-S and TL-S engine is the same. the only difference I see is that CL-S has (1) resonator and TL-S has (2). Theoratically if TL-S loses (1) resonator it shoud sound the same but it doesn't. So there is something different about these 2 brothers. What would it be?

hmm, this sounds interesting and is pretty cheap.. and i would like for my exhaust to sound louder =) my exhaust is stock, so how many resonators are there? 2 or 4? and what do i tell the muffler shop when i go to them? do i just ask them to take my exhaust resonators off?
