anyone think of putting a skid plate on ur TL?

i am thinking about custom making a plate that goes under the front bumper and lip to prevent scratches. it will go over the kit about 1/2 inch. i'll paint it black or somethin. im just sick of all the scratches and i think it will look cool too. any ideas on how to make one? i was thinking some kind of metal and use rivets to bolt it to the bottom of the car. any suggestions?

well when you said skid plate im thinkin "baja style". but really to be an effective skid plate that would completely protect the front air dam from say a parking stall bumper or a curb it would have to be strong enough to support the wieght (or most of) the front of the car.
OK after really thinkin about your post, it's a good idea but i thinks whats being done here is fixing the symptom and not the cause. the skid plate wont protect your bumper from real damage just a few little scatches.
I'm not lowered but i am constantly aware of the hieght of whats in front of me.

Wish i had one of those when some idiot didn't pay attention and turned right in front of me, causing me to swerve and fly up a 10 inch high curb .. splash guard under the engine is a goner now.. thankfully no other damage (apart from, yes, a scratched up front bumper bottom.. but that bumper was already history anyway after a 'meeting' with a trailer hook)

I think you need to get a Hummer. THE TRUCK!! THE TRUCK!! NOT THE ONE FROM THE LITTLE WOMAN!! (but that wouldn't hurt either)
