Anyone with stock suspension have rubbing problems with 245'45'17?
#6
Well, I checked the archives and ZodiakTL has 235/45/17 on his stock suspension and wheels with no problems.
He's on 17x6.5" (US TLS) so I'm sure that the extra 10mm of width will fit on 17x7" (Cdn Spec).
I still have to confirm whether the extra cm of width will cause rubbing.

CLS comment on 235/45-17...
They work without rubbing on stock 17x7" wheels and work when lowered on 17x8" +48 offset SSR comps. There was a member that insisted that he had front rubbing problems with the SSRs and 235s in front, but never bothered to inform anyone that he fixed the problem due to an improper installation. He said that the installers screwed-up his bump stops (he said it, not me).
Technique tested the 235/45-17s on a Comptech lowered CLS and verified NO RUB with a full load and 5 passengers. He is now running 245/40-17 Toyo T1s Proxies. They don't rub, but he has not tested them on a lowered car (YET).
I don't know how much this will help, but it beats a stick in the eye.!

I Have 235 45VR 17's on CL-S wheels and they fit and look great. My only complaint is the tire/fender gap but I know I will have to modify my suspension to get rid of that.
I think 245 45 17's are too much for the TL since the logical upgrade should be 225 45 17's and with 235's you'd be already exceeding that.
Get the 235's you wont regret it!!!!
