Anyone Running 235/45 or 225/45 Tires on Stock TL-S Rims?

Before the flames, I did do a search and found some older posts, but not many. I need new tires and really want to go with the Pirelli Pzero Nero M&S tires. The problem I have is both the 225 and 235/45s don't show that they can be installed on our stock 6.5" wide rims. Has anyone done this? If so, how is handling? I see the diameter of the 235/45s is right on with the stock 215/50 series (25.5"), but the 235 series say they can only be installed on a rim ranging from 7.5" to 9.5", while the 225/45s say the range is 7"-9", which would only be .5" less if n mounted on the stock rims.

Can anyone comment on any alternative tires? I really want good cornering (stiff sidewalls) and although the stock tires squeal, they do corner well. I also need an all-season. Ride quietness is also important. I don't really want to spend the HIGH $180/tire for the OEM. Suggestions???

Thanks!

225/45/17 is too small.

The correct size would actually be 245/45/17 but 235 is fine too.

Just got off the phone with tire rack. They won't sell me the 235/45 anyway. Load rating is not high enough. It is apparently a safety hazzard..or more likely, just a liability thing they don't want to deal with. Since I want performance and low noise, they recommended the Bridgestone Turanza LS-V. Anyone know about this tire?

Mike,

i have the Conti Extremes 235.45.17 and love em. I don't know what they were feeding you regarding load bearing. Mine are fina, and so are many other happy folks who get a bit more handling out of the car.

Because of difference in design, same size tries from different manufactures have a different load ratings - difference can be as high as 25%.

Just call back and tell them you have 8 inch wide rims.

You'll be fine as long as they are Z rated.

But if I go with the 235/45s on stock rims, won't the sidewall stick out since the tire is wider? Can someone post pics?
