Post Anyone raced a Lincoln LS V8?? Result??

I was next to a Lincoln LS V8 yesterday on the Mass Pike on the way home....he was trying to show off how fast his car was....I had to take an exit off the Pike, so I didn't have a chance to play with him, so I was wondering if anyone has raced one and what was the result?

Good thing you didn't race him cause he would have spanked you. My uncle has one, and they are fast as hell.

Glad I was getting off the highway, then!
How much HP do they have? I would assume that we could smoke the V6, right??

Why back down from anyone? Just race for the fun of it as long as it's done safely.

here are the #s for the V8 LS. I think you guys can take them off the line but not sure what would happen past 60. Their v8 is only a 3.9l.

Acceleration (0-60 mph): 7.2 sec.
Braking Distance (60-0 mph): 127 ft.
Roadholding Index: NA
Base Number of Cylinders: 8
Base Engine Size: 3.9 liters
Base Engine Type: V8

Hey our number is pretty close to that right. I meant the best time for us is 6.7 but i am pretty sure we could get it around 7.0-7.4. So I don't think we would be dusted ..

I beg to differ....
Technology and forced induction smoke displacement on any given day. We import enthousiasts should know that better than anyone else.

I once raced a Lincoln Mark 8 in my 92 Integra 5 speed. I was actually a barely ahead of it up until about 60 but after that I guess the engine really opened up and he left me.

I would say a TL-P and an LS V8 would be a good race. You'll have to launch well or he'll take you though. Lots of torque. And to add to Mike's statistics... keep in mind that boat weighs a full 200 lbs more than a TL.

Power to weight ratio (lower is better):
LS - 14.7
TL - 15.5

Power to torque ratio:
LS - 13.8
TL - 16.2

The LS has the edge, but not by a whole lot. And like many domestic engines, it's top end isn't exactly spectacular so part of what you'd lose on the launch can be made up.

I have a friend with one. I raced him in my CL-S when I was stock and took him fairly easily. We all know there's not much difference between the Premium and Type S versions of the TL/CL.

Okay the Lincoln might not be fast off the line, but on the highway there's not contest.

Now if you think Force Induction can smoke displacement, I think you should read more stuff on this subject.

I am ain't no expert and I am sure that displacement is not the only way to gernerate more torque. But there are the down side of force induction.

I would think it would be close if not a tie, but after 80 mph ANY v-8 pick up even that slow Lincoln LS

First of all, the LS isn't as fast as you think it is, its meant to be ooth with good power, not a red light azz ripper.

As for the idea that forced induction and technology is better than cubic inches, get your head checked soon. You have to rev a 2.5L motor twice as fast as a 5L motor to get the same HP and you still can't match the torque. The same goes for forced induction: you have to stuff 15psi through the same motor to get 5L power, which is not bad. The question is: what happens when someone puts a lot of strong parts into a V8 (doesn't matter what brand or country of origin) and puts some forced induction on it? Imports usually lose. It may be true that Supras and RX7's can be really fast, but there are a lot of even faster 5.0L (and some larger) turbo V8's on the prowl.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention: 4 valve heads came out in the 1930's and fuel injection in the 1950's, ain't that nice to know.

I don't get your point/argument, you just admitted 1. that a high revving 2.5l engine is comparable to a 5l engine, 2. that a small engine w/ 15psi of boost (really needs less than that) is comparable to a 5l engine, and 3. that for a V8 to be able to smoke an import, it too needs to resort to forced induction.
which was my point exactly.
