anyone missing headlights?

looking through ebay for TL street sign and saw these.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2400033926

In all of his auctions the back mounting bracket is broken. Go Figure. What do you think stolen or not?

Definately stolen. If you look at that persons other auction. Is it all headlights. And they are all either damaged in some sort of way.

He's even got just a single Maxima HID for sale. Says it got "some minor scuff and scratches from daily driving". Sound suspicious?

Can we get something to lock the lights in with? Acura should look into that and try to make something like a wheel lock for the headlights.

I am thinking of emailing him thru ebay about the auction saying:

"I want one of these but wondering, if These are easy to be stolen? Because I heard headlights like these are being Stolen nowadays and was wondering if I buy these if there is any way to protect them from getting stolen?"

I wanna see what his response is, Anyone Dare me? You think I can get in trouble by ebay or anything?

OR THINK OF SOMETHING ELSE CREATIVE FOR ME TO EMAIL HIM WITH.. OR WE ALL EMAIL HIM WITH A CREATIVE EMAIL LOL

Not yet.

Give me 48 hours. I just had eBay and some other people check to see if he is legitimate. Him not taking Paypal (but Money orders only) also raises a Red Flag.

Question to seller regarding eBay Item # 2400033926

1999-2001 Acura 3.2 TL HID Headlights

Will these lights work with the mounting bracket broken. Why do all of your auctions for the HID headlamps have broken mounting brackets. What happened did someone rip them out of somebodys car when they werent looking?

Lets see if he responds

What might be a good idea is to etch your VIN # or some sort writing into the headlight. The plastic goes in about an inch so you could just take a soddering gun and lightly write your vin # in the plastic by burning it. If you ever saw it on ebay, you could easily identify it. Even if the person tried to scratch off the number, it would be obvious that those headlights are yours.

thanks for the email,
i got several email from other ebayers with questions similar to yours. i am no a theif nor do i steal them from any car. i buy the headlights from my uncles junk yard from cars that have damage. sometimes i sell only the hid system because the headlights are completely damaged. the hid system can be removed and installed onto any other car. i hope i satisfied your questions.
thanks.

HAHAHHA these are stolen bigger than $hit.

If they took them out of cars in a junk yard then the mounting bracket from the lights would still be fine. But when your in a hurry to remove them and start pulling on them because someone is coming then I can see where the bracket might get damaged.

OMFG!?!?

I emailed him saying:

"Do these not fit a 2003 Model? Because I have a 2003 TL Type-S and was wondering if these would fit? Or If you have other ones for the 2003 in stock, THANKS!"

He Replied saying:

"thanks for the email,
they wont fit the 2003 model, i think they'll only fit up to the 2001 model. but you can do a custom job on the headlights you already have to fit the hid system. I can arrange a request for a pair of headlights for you, how much are you willing to spend?
thanks for the email,
d.a."

He said that he can get them for me!? OMG! YOU FIGURE THE REST!

I was going to say "Innocent until proven guilty."
But it's becoming harder and harder for me to believe that, especially based on his latest response. There's gotta be something we can do about this guy.

I'd say %95 of cars in a junkyard are heavily damaged on the front end... and the 5% that weren't, what are the odds that you would find a car with xenons? Cripes... I've looked for a wrecked TL in the Atlanta area and have had NO luck!!

Do anyone have any idea of preventing this happen again (other than having .45 under my pillow) ? I was planning to go for AG4/IG9000 from clifford. But will that really help ?
Any suggestions ?

new reply. I asked if i could get a set of bulbs and the charger put on another car.

thanks for the email,
If you really want the hid system without buying another cars headlights, I can look around the junkyards for a set. To install the system you'll have to do some custom work to the headlight so the bulb can stay in place correctly or in some cases not fall out when you hit a bump, for the module part you can just drill it into the side of your headlight or drill it to your bumper close to the headlight.
thanks.

Five people should email him asking for the TL headlights. Ask for a 2002-3. If he tells everyone he can get them, what are the chances there are that many TL's in his uncles junkyard?

He sure doesn't say why they are broken though.. You would think.. if they are from a junkyard, and you are going to sell them for big cash.. you would be careful not to BREAK them. But like everyone else is saying, if you are thieving... you have only a short while to get those suckers out. So breaking them doesn't matter.

This guy's auction bothers me. He really should be investigated. Bastards like this show that thieving these headlights can bring you money through ebay. He should be taught a lesson...

It sounds to me like Acura needs to start putting serial numbers on these things in way/places that a removal of the serial number would cause them not to work or something. If serial numbers are tracked then they could track down what are legit and not. Maybe printing the serial on the circuit board of the balasts, etching them to the inside of the glass on the lenses.

if i were you guys, i'd stop requesting tl headlights. who knows, he might think there's a bigger market out there for them and start upping his effort to rip some more off (if, in fact, he is ripping them off).
