anyone know what is going on here - headlight issues

a few months ago my left headlight began acting up. it would turn off while i would be driving and if i turn the lights off and then back on, it starts back up again. it used to only happen once in awhile but now lately it happens all the time. sometimes it just turns off and wont turn back on for a few minutes. then, both would turn off at the same time and when i flick the switch they both come back on. any ideas on whats going on here?!?! its the weirdest thing

I actually had the same problem as well. Sometimes when I turned my headlight on the drivers side would not come on or it would shut off while I was driving and if i turned the headlights off and back on, it would ususally come back on. For me it was actually the ballast though. Don't do the same thing I did and buy the part before you actually figure out what's wrong with it. I bought the bulbs thinking that was the problem and it didn't fix it. My ballast apparently got really wet becuase I was getting some water out of it when I took it off. I would swap parts from the working light to the bad one to make sure you buy the right part.

i moved to rochester, ny back in march. actually thinking of getting rid of the car.

snowman, my problem happens in both headlights though so it would be hard to test it out. i know i can pick up a full set of bulbs and ballasts for 350. maybe ill try that but your right i should get it checked out first

im not too much of an expert, but have you by chance checked all the wiring around the headlight assembly? something may be loose or damp? you may need a complete new wire harness.

I'm not sure then...it would be hard to believe that both bulbs or ballasts are going bad at the same time and flicker on and off at the same time, if that's what they are doing.

I have the same problem.

Where is a good place to buy bulbs or ballast?? And is it easy to install?

had this prob last summer; ended up being a lose ground and then the inverter shorted. needed a new bulb and inverter (warrantied)

since it was a lose ground, my signal would go on for no reason every now and then too.

ROChester? done with school bro?
