Post Anyone here paint their calipers?

I just got wheels so know my calipers and rotors look ugly. I'm thinking of spray painting them. I'm gonna use hi-temp paint and prime them first. Anyone do this before? Have any pics?

My car is silver... and my calipers are silver... kinda convenient if you ask me.

Scrubbed all the rust off and cleaned the brakes before painting with a 1500 degree paint for the rotors. It was an all day job but worth it.

No - just cleaned them good and painted with a few coats of hi-temp paint. Those pics were 6 months ago and the brakes still look good

what tools did you guys use to unscrew the lugnuts? Did you guys torque them correctly? My brother painted his calipers and he just used the tool they give you to change the spare tires. I know thats trouble but he is too lazy to bring it in the shop to get it torqued correctly.

I left mine on and just taped up the fender with newspapers and also the rotors (even though it comes off when u first break) and anything else i didn't want to turn red

time consuming, but very easy.

what do u mean? u mean to take off the tire itself? i used the wrench that acura provided and as long as you can lift that tire off i'm sure you can apply enough pressure to tighten them back on when your done.

good question...i have a torque wrench and torque it to 80 pounds
if your a meduim built guy, all you have to do it arm-tighten them and you should be fine. just dont go crazy. dealers dont even torque them, so i dont think its TOO big of a deal

I am very interested in painting mine, but I know very little about painting and even less about brakes. How tough is it to take off the calipers and reinstall them? If someone could post very detailed directions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Powder coating is when you bake the powdercoating on in an oven. My calipers were taken off, and sanded so it is shiny. Powdercoating holds up longer than paint....but costs more and takes a lot more work.
