Bitium I'm curious what you did with the wood pieces on the doors and the center consule. Did you remove them or did you keep them with the aluminum??? Let me know thanks...

So your going to hook us up with a pic next week when you get your car?

I removed the door & center console pieces then they got done in carbon fiber and when I get my car back, I'll put them back. I have brushed aluminum on my dash board.
Yes, I will take some pictures and post them next week.

I recently purchased the BA kit from Tim. Hopefully it'll be here soon...and I'll be able to install it over the weekend. I'll send out pics and comments.

Actually i got a CL, not TL
I've seen this picture, but the picture is too unclear to tell. Really want something more close up. The last thing I want is the synthetic aluminum giving out a plastic-y look, as described here
http://www.miata.net/products/interi...iata_dash.html . I'd definately go with a geniune aluminum if it is offered.

thanks,
j

Hmm, that doesn't look like "brushed aluminum" to me, that looks more like "plastic bowling ball" gray?

There is a member on the acura-cl.com forum who has the "stainless kit". I will post the link to the close-up pictures once the site is back up. I emailed him to inquire about the kit few months back, but didn't get a reply from him.

i found the pictures to the "stainless" dash on a CL:

http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...641&a=11470470

In addition, I have received a sample of synthetic aluminum piece with 1/8 inch protective coat over it from an online vendor. Honestly, it looks cheap. Kinda plastic-y. Guys who ordered the aluminum kit -- please Let me know how your kit is like.

thanks.

I received my BA kit from Tim a few days ago. To be honest, I was really disappointed. The concerns everybody had with the plastic look..well, its true. When you look closely at a piece...it looks silver but to give it the "brushed" look....looks like they took a brown paint brush to give it the streaks....yuck!

does the brushed aluminum just go on the existing black plastic facade or does it replace it?

The kit that I got from Tim (approx. 23 pieces) goes on top of the plastic surfaces throughout the interior of the car. Along with the kit...you get alcohol wipes to prep the surface and another wipe that accelerates the adhesive. Basically, you peel away the paper backing and stick the pieces on.

Don't be at all. I have the same kit you have and it's way better that the plastic wood kit or real metal. I install a real metal brush aluminum and trust me, you do not want it. First is so fvcking hard to install in bents like nothing and it stays bent. Plus when it gets dirty it is a pain to clean. I love the look of the plastic after I install the real one on my girlfriends car. To tell you the truth I was jelaous when she got it. I'm like damn mine sucks, but I take that back 100 times . It's all matter of opinions, but why make opinions on things you haven't seen for yourself, like some of you people did.

Hey...I prefer the real thing. If the metal is hard to bend...no sweat, its nothing a blowdryer or blowtorch can't fix

Bitium,

Do you actually have a "real" BA kit in your car?

The real thing is not always better I had a heat gun and trust me is really hard to change the mold and stay that way. Is not any more expensive than the plastic, is that the manufacturers don't like to make it, because of many problems and many people end up returning the kit, if you even can

I have the plastic like you I'm happy with it.

Next time read a little more. Look up were I said this:

Don't know where she got it, but she has an infiniti and not a TL. It was like $200+.
