Burning Brakes
This was one area where my wife and I disagree--we saw the wood steering wheel at the dealer, I loved it, she hated it! She thought it looked cheap and felt uncomfortable, whereas it added even more class to the interior in my opinion, and you don't usually hold the wood part anyway!

You're calling it CHEAP???? :wow:
I haven't seen anyone calling a Wood Steering Wheel CHEAP!! And why do you think it's slippery?? Are you wearing gloves when you dirve??
I agree that that's not real wood, but it's same material as door trims & center console trims. You think those look cheap, too???
Only luxury vehicles equipped with Wood Steering wheel, like MB, BMW, Lexus, Infiniti, etc.

yes i am calling it cheap..it is not real wood, just like the interior trim.....the trim doesnt look AS cheap but i think the steering wheel is overdoing it...If i were wearing gloves, it would not be as slippery....It all depends on how you drive..I drive with the base of my hand so, yes, it is very slippery to have the plastic there instead of the leather.
Is our car not a luxury vehicle? yes it is...just not of the high standard of MB, BMW and Lexus..As I said earlier, it looks almost like the steering wheel covers that are the fake looking wood and the knobby rubber......you may as well get one of those....to each his own....[

I have it.
My wife just bought it for me for our anniversary.
Prior to that she has always said that she didn't like the wood wheels, especially when I wanted to get one in our Land Cruiser. She used to say that it looked a little cheesy.
After she drove my car she's now admitted that it looks pretty sharp.
It might be a bit much if you have the complete wood (er.. I mean plastiwood) trim kit. As for me, I have the wood trim around the gauges and the wood shift knob, so it doesn't look overdone (IMO).
I do think that it does add a bit more warmth (visually) to the interior and it's a nice touch. As for it being slippery, I'd have to agree with Daryl.com. It's not a big deal, but if you make one handed turns with the palm of your hands, it is a bit slippery.
I don't regret having it, and I'd do it again. She ended up getting it from the dealer for $420 installed. She did try getting it from Tim here, but it didn't work out.
Is it worth that much? I'm not so sure, but life is short .

Shame on all you haters!!!
Daryl.com
I have the wood steering wheel on my '03. I have a blk/blk and it really adds to the look and feel of the interior. In addition to the Navi, the wood steering wheel is an option that I will not do without on my future cars!
See for yourself:

Go ahead and tell me my interior looks cheap!
And BTW, it's not slippery. I find that the leather is more slippery with dry hands. Granted, if your palms get balmy, then the wood is more slick. But all in all, I like it and I guess it's just to each his own!

....and you are talking outside temp(of course it's a dry heat, haha) ...imagine a black car with black interior with the outside temp hovering around 110F (even 90F is bad)..you could fry an egg on that plastic steering wheel...
i have the parchment with a white car and it still gets pretty damn hot....

Three Wheelin'
It's definately not slippery. The only time I can easily turn the car with one hand is when I'm on the wood. The leather is much harder to grip than the wood.

Daryl.Com: Ok, IT LOOKS CHEAP....I must be very picky.....i dont like the black interior due to the bowling ball look....looks like you have found a way around that, well, i still dont like the black interior even WITH the burlwood look.
