My buddy just drove a V8 Lincoln LS and claims it to be much faster than the TLS. What do you guys think?? Has anyone raced one before? Curious...

Licoln LS's are nothing to worry about. They do 60 in like 7. whatever seconds and are heavy. Great looking though. Also dont forget that the back wheel drive and v 8 torque will put you into your seat more, but its just not as fast as a type s.

 

LS v8 does 0-60 in low 7's

it may 'feel' faster because it has more torque down low, so it may be a little quicker to 30mph.

but anything over 45mph, leave the v8 ls's for the tl-p people to play with.

 

The V8s got some torque, but off the line you should be able to take him. At high speeds, he'll crush you.

 

Not so sure... MT shows 1/4 trap speed down 7 MPH from TL-S. Have your buddy PROVE how much faster it is

 

Awhile back, C&D did a comparison and the LS was in it. it was called the vice-presidents of Velocity(May 2000). I dont have the numbers in front of me, but I believe the TL-S is quicker to 60 and the 1/4 mile. The LS does move pretty good between 80 and 130-140. I think the 1/4 was between 15.3 and 15.7 for the LS, dont quote me on that.

 

I have driven the LS V8 and there is NO way it is faster than the TL-S. Close, maybe.

I was talking about speed in the 100+ range, if you venture into that territory. Our 4th/5th gear sucks.

 

3rd can take you well into 100mph. anything over that (or even near), i hope you're on closed courses.

 

Man road and track put the TL-S 0-60 at 7 flat... Had the IS300 at 7.3 and the 330ci at 6.7... I think the TL-S is faster than that... TL-P's are like 6.7-6.8 right??? The interstate is hardly any fun to me because it takes so long to hit tre's, and I would rather keep my composure then race and be pissed off cuz I lost, or got a ticket...Shyne

 

I went up against a Jag S-Type that I believe shares the same V8 with the Lincoln LS. It was a very close race, I beat him to 70 by maybe 3 car lengths but to 50 we were pretty much dead even.
