Anyone ever used 100 + octane ?

Theres a lot of gas stations here in Los Angeles who sell high octane "racing fuel". It just so happens down the street on Olympic and Barrington they sell 100 octane. Its expensive as shat $4.99 a gallon. I put 3 gallons in my car one day just for the heck of it.

The car pulled much harder on the freeway. 4th gear is where I noticed the car is much faster, you get like 5 miles per gallon though

N/A cars dont gain much with higher octane...
My friends 600 HP Turbo Typhoon - A.K.A " AWD BEAST" gets at least 60 horsepower when he uses 109 octane. Regular pump fuel he dynoed in around 500 hp @ 4psi but when he puts racing fuel hes in the tens.

Too much octane will burn your spark plugs, at least that's what I've heard from a mechanic.

You guys in the east are lucky, you get 93 octane.

Out here in California we get 91 octane

I put 89 octance in my tank several times, my car drove as if the A/C was on.

We must have a sh*tload of cars out here in the WeST, theres no explanation for 91 vs. 93 or am I wrong, correct me.

It's all because of that MTBE crap they started a while back, before that, there was 93 in CA and it was like $0.99 per gallon

When I had my mustang I used to to put about 4 gallons of CAM2 Racing fuel in (104) and then fill up with 93 Octance. There was definately a noticeable difference, but its not really good for the engine because its a leaded fuel. I don't think I would ever try it on the TL

It's the B.S. California formulation that keeps us from getting higher octane gas. Just consider that you're taking one in the nuts for the environment and maybe you'll feel better. Chevron used to be 92 and they are even at 91.

Umm lead gas is a no-no.....isn't lead gas for cars banned? Lead gas will kill your catalytic converter (never ever use it with our TLs) cuz the leads clogs it up.

So....how is a octan rating of 93 worst for the envi then the 91 rating? All I know is that octane rating refers to how much the gas can be compressed by your engine (higher rating means higher compression can be achieved by your engine meaning more HP and maybe cleaner burning?). Isn't the cars being sold in Cal different from all the other states (ULEV requirements?). So maybes those cars compression ratio is made for 91 rated octane.....but hey.....I'm really no expert in cars.
