Anyone ever replace side moldings?

Has anyone ever done this? One of my side moldings is peeling and I need to replace it.

I was at Acura this past week and they wanted to charge $110 to replace it. They say the piece was about $30 and I guess the rest would be labor?!?!

Is it that difficult??

You're talking about the molding on the door itself right? I need to have mine replaced because of an accident (only on the rear door though), and I'm being charged about $27.12 for the molding itself, and 0.3 hours of labor for the job (@$36.00 per hour), but I have a bunch of other work being done. It shouldn't be more than 1 hour worth of work, and they usually round up to 1 hour if its less than that. So if they're charging more than $36/hour for the work try to bring it someplace else.

Are you talking about the side molding on the outside of the door? If so that shouldn't be peeling, its made of fiberglass and its not painted and it doesn't have clearcoat on it! I had mine replaced back when the car was new as a good faith warranty replacement by my dealer because someone scratched it. To replace it doesn't take more than 5 minutes! Pop out the old and adhere the new one.

Yes, it is the molding on the side of the door.

The way the bodyshop told me was that you could just pop it off and that it was basically glued on.
