Post Anyone else experience some problems with the gear changes?

I've had the car for a week and a half now and i've experienced 6-7 times that the car does not "pick up" when i step on the gas. What i mean is that at a complete stop at a red light, and then a green light, I have expereicend that the car doesn't go for about 2 seconds. The gears are acting as if i put the car in neutral stepped on the gas while in neutral and then changed to D5 (hard to explain hope u know what i mean). No matter how hard i step on the peddal at that point, there's no way the car would go. Is this supposed to be normal for break in period? It's not just this, but the changing of gears from a R to N to D5 is slower than other cars. Example if i change from R to N, it'd take about 1.5-2 secs before the transmission realized the car is now in N. The same is true for when i change from N to D5, this is most annoying cuz it takes the car a good 2-3 seconds before it responds to the change from N to D5. And very often the car shakes a bit whenever i step on the peddal right after the gear change. Normal? or should i get the car checked?

If you're not exaggerating when you say 2 seconds, then yes, I concur, take it to Acura and put up a nasty fuss about it so they don't shmooze you into believing that ALL TL-S's do this. In fact, when you go there, make sure you cover your tracks --> mention that you've test-driven other TL-S's and a buddy's and that all THOSE didn't do this. Show you dissatisfaction.

To compare your car w/ mine.. as soon as I let off the gas, the car begins to roll at idle and as SOON as I tap that accel., the car jerks forward and begins moving forward, absolutely NO delay. Regarding the R->N, I would have to agree that it isn't the fastest transition, but it isn't obnoxiously slow, so that too may be amiss in your car.

Best of Luck, please let us know what they tell you, and I hope they replace it for you!

Pete
