That's the chrome shift plate, only 99TL have the chrome underneath the paint.

if you don't have a 1999 TL, you just CANT get it..

hhhmmm... i guess i can paint it with chrome spray. How do i remove the plate ?

1. remove knob (turn counter-clockwise)
2. pry and remove the trim around the shift plate
3. remove shift plate

hey, you bastards cant take everything from us

us 99'ers will always have our chrome shift gate and our control over 1st gear!!!! MWAHAHAH YOU CAN NEVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US!!!!! ehehehehhehe

yeah you '99 owners are right. painted shift plate doesn't look as good. mine looks like foil wrapped
