I mounted mine in the top left corner of the window and want to hardwire it in the fusebox. Where did you wire it?

Pick a non-essential fuse. I've always used the fuse for the cigarette lighter/power outlet on all of my cars versus something like the airbags, lights, climate control, ABS, etc. Pull out the fuse, use a testlight to find out which side is "hot". Wrap the bare wire from your radar detector around one of the fuse prongs. When you plug it back in, make sure the prong with the wire on it is OPPOSITE the hot side, that way your radar detector is protected by the fuse also. Also make sure that you don't have any extra exposed wiring touching other fuse connections.

You're radar detector draws little power, so you shouldn't have any problems blowing fuses. I've done it this way on the last six cars I've owned and have never had a problem or blown a fuse.

i just physically wired it to the actually cigarett lighter wires. and it comes with its own fuse, so chances are that'll blow before the car fuse.

What type of radar do you have and how do you connect the radar wire to the lighter wire. My lighter is loose and spinning around and I cannot figure out how to fix it. Can you help with that? It does not come out but the whole lighter spins around and I cannot use my hands free device because it will not stay up.
Thanks for your help. BTW I am thinking of the BEL 980 or the valentine one.
