any way to refinish shift plate???

ok guy....i have a 99 TL, and the shift plate is a little scratched up

i know you can take the finish off so it's chrome, but i'm not too fond of that look.....is there anyway to reapply a finish or take out the scratches??

any help is appreciated!!

Sure, just repaint it. Sand it down with some 220 grit paper and repaint.

i think the gunmetal would be niiiice....although it wouldn't match any of the other 'metal' pieces in the interior, like the door handles

also i'm thinkin about getting some radio knobs and accent rings, how do you think those would look with a gunmetal shift plate?

hmmm

wow songoku......i really like that look, much better than the flat black that they give us

does the inside part come out easily after you've taken the shift plate off??

also, did you repaint the shift plate while you were doing the inside, so they'd match perfectly?

what type of paint did you use??

i really like that

That's my friend's TLS. I remember it was pretty simple to take it out. No, I didn't paint the outside, only on the inside. While I was painting SSM accord parts, he asked me to paint that at the same time. That's 2 stage with clearcoat.

from what i understand, spl, you just pop that little oval thing off on the right, then the surrounding black piece pops off easily, then the shift plate just comes up with a little tug

i'm looking into some paint to do what songoku did to his friends car.....i really like that look
