Any update on the RES???
yeah... what these guys said.
It's pretty much done. The guy who was doing it (Doug) from Rick Case Acura, no longer is employed there... so, unless he starts his own business with his own money.... it's pretty much dead...

Some would like to see RES In Peace, but the RES delays made RES on this forum sound more like its of the Friday the 13th Part I-V mold.
Maybe well see it sometime in the future, but not too distant I hope.

So Phantom, did you grill me a GS400? I'm still on the lookout. At least I have some slicks on the front . . . for now anyway.

I have seen the design and I have seen/touch the actual product. the hold up is on the production of the units. The product is finish.
once the issue is resolve the product will be produce and sold.

i just don't understand why that little production problem could take that long... and why not even a little update from doug?
Someone on the Acura CL forum had the AutoCAD diagrams for the RES...all the dimensions of the RES. Would it be possible to have it professionaly custom made? If so...what material would it be made out of. the RES is basically a block of metal/alloy with holes in it for the screws and the metal of the underside has be removed so more air can pass through. correct?

Can someone please explain in detail what is a RES:
1. What it is
2. What it does
3. Where it goes
4. What it will cost
5. What it looks like
Thanks

Your right, the answers are "hidden", I did a search and could not find a straight-forward answer to my simple questions. After searching, it would of taken a great deal of patents to got those questions answered. So I figured, someone with the answers and 2 minutes of time could help me. I'm still hopeful, and by the way, thank you in advance.

PS. It's not what you say, but how you say it...
Mike,
It's called RES which stands for Resonance Enhancing System.
Basically it's a bolt on intake manifold plate that changes the airflow to create what they call the hemoltz effect.
Ericl explained it pretty well here:
"1. A cylinder opens a valve, and closes it a bit later. The air coming in wants to keep coming in. If an engine only ran at one speed, it would be easy to just design a set of pipes and a plenum that would be "perfect".
2. When the valve opens, and the cylinder goes down, it starts ingesting air. Air has mass and when the valve closes, the air wants to continue flowing (think inertia and momentum [air has mass]). The gas wants to keep moving, but the valve stops it. So, for a moment, there is an excess of pressure in the area of that intake runner. If an adjacent cylinder wants to open at the time that this pressure is created, it will get a boost from its "buddy".
3. Since engines run at varying speeds, what is an ideal set of pressure waves changes with speed. Waves will move back and forth in a plenum. The idea is have the area of max pressure sitting next to the intake valve of a cylinder ready to open.
Any method or device that allows the pressure waves to be increased at all speeds is going to get a boost in airflow with the subsequent increase in pressure.
Have you ever seen a picture of a standing wave????"
supposedly it was a five minute install costing $300 and 10-20hp gain.
Try a search using "mystery mod" (without quotes)and you will find more stuff.

I had a run with a new stang this week, the guy was cool and it was a great run... till a Taurus started to cutting people off and gotten in our way. I will keep an eye out for the GS.

Doing just fine Phantom. I had to settle for an IS300 the other day. He had a big-ol exhaust tip and and Ingen logo on his plate. He just pasted on by me at 10MPH or so over the limit and never really messed with me. At the next light I was turning left and when the light changed he made a left turn from the through lane and jumped past me. I tried to pull up next to him, but had to tucked in behind hind him at the next light. When he took off, I jumped out and passed him on the left. I think he should have left me alone or left off the Ingen logo and big-ol exhaust tips and not embarass himself like that.

Anyway - I'll have to take it easy for a while until I get new rubber. My old one seem to have gone bald on me.
So have fun and be safe.

But never more so than when you would tease us with those posts of the Dyno results. It was "woods-ville" everytime.

I'm really hoping that by time I have the money to spare there'll be a product to buy.

Is not a production problem. The product is finish. The hold up is more of a financial issue. The production company wants $90k at one time, because they want to do all x amount of units at one time. so coming out with $90k is not that easy. the prduction company does not want to reduce the x amount of units to be produce.

If it is a guaranteed money maker then why has it not been produced and offered to the public? Someone had just mentioned the fact of coming up with $90K is the problem but if it will defintniltely make $$ then they should be confident enough to go ahead and sell it in advance to come up with at least part of the investment. I personally think there are still bugs they want to work out or just not cost effective enough to put it in production.

LOL....I'll tell you this, you will never guess the cost to produce each unit ?????????? The product is very cost effective. He just does not believe he would sell enough units to recover from initial investment and $90k. He would have to sell about 550 units. Remember the RES will not work on accord's or 99 TL's. If you guys or oblio could make a survey or poll and see how many people would buy it or actucually buy it in advance..pre order. This would be a good Idea...I would talk to Tim and doug about this. If we come up with 200-300 units on pre-order the RES might come true.
