Question Any Tint Guaranteed NOT To Affect Navi/Radar Detector?

Can anyone recommend a tint job that definitely, absolutely, without a doubt, guaranteed WILL NOT affect quality of Navi and Radar?

Do I need to look for specific brands? Or just percentage tint? Or a combination? Also, ballpark figure of $$$ cost would be appreciated. Thanx!

I have metalised film on my TL and have no problems. the shop that did mine said they had never heard of any problems concerningthe navi. the tint shop is right across the street from the Acura dealer and they tint all the cars. i was also worried about this problem but i think it was a rumor that someone started. it might have been because of the fact that when you first drive your TL the satellite signals take a while to register on the display and i think someone assumed this behavior of the navi was due to the tint.

Other members have said there is no problem when the top 6 inches are not covered. I e-mailed the question to navtech.com a week ago but no response. I talked to two tint shops (both >10 yrs in business) and they both said "ANY metallic on ANY part of the rear window will affect the NAV. You'd think they would go the other way if they were just trying to sell the more $$ metallic products vs. non-metallic. Maybe they're just playing CYA. I don't know who to believe. Guess I'll wait a little longer for more feedback here. But it's already getting CRAZY HOT in Cali, ya know?!

I had the back window installed with metallic tint and it jacked my navi up. Was always going off course and the navi would get so lost it would show me driving in the ocean. I live in San Diego and the single strength might be stronger where you live. If you travel somewhere and the strength is low you navi will get lost. Believe me I know from experience. If you want to tint the back window just use any tint that isn't metallic and you will be fine. I just have the non-matilac on my back window and haven’t had any problems.
